So you’re saying that House GOP budget leaders haven’t said they want to cut cut Social Security ? You’re simply denying reality. They’ve been calling for raising eligibility age to 70 - which means many will die before they can receive, and many victims of age discrimination-firings will be unemployed for years before they have access to Social Security.

They may move the retirement ages up, but I don’t think they
will cut current payments to Social Security recipients. As
always, we don’t really know what’s up their sleeve before
they do it.

This is Yahoo, and I think we all know what their agenda is.

This is probably tame by what we will see over the next
few weeks.

After folks quit seething with anger, please remember that
the Democrats are the majority in the House and Senate.

No matter what the Republicans (supposedly) want, they
can’t pass it without the majority side.

Next year, if we have the majority, there will still be
a lot of opposition to reducing payments. Not happening!

“ They do this every damn election cycle. Every time since I’ve been aware of politics and I’m knocking on 70.”

They do it because GOP leaders keep calling for cutting Social Security. Mitch McConnell calls for it regularly. Google McConnell and social security cuts

The Dems aren’t lying, they’re merely reporting

Trump told Republicans to stop trying to cut Social Security. Paul Ryan and the GOPe hated him for that

Nope. Republicans wanted to make SS a private fund which Dems blocked because it takes away their election scare.

You aren’t thinking outside the box. The best way to fix social security is to get rid of the recipients. Just kill em all off. Ship em into nursing homes during a pandemic or just ration their care. Zeke Emmanuel has a plan.

“ They may move the retirement ages up”

The proposal is to raise eligibility to age 70. That’s a huge cut because it would mean many would die before they became eligible. Also, with age-related firings common in modern America - and most employers uninterested in hiring anyone over 50, let alone 65 - you’d have a vast number of people too old to get hired but too “young” to get Social Security

Yeah but some of us have looooong memories, we've heard it before. And I live on SS and did better under Republicans.

What old people. The dems killed so many in nursing homes. I’m not lying, just reporting.

But hey, troll troll troll your boat, gently down the stream. Just don’t be old during a pandemic.

“ Republicans wanted to make SS a private fund which Dems blocked because it takes away their election scare.”

It wasn’t the Dems who killed that idea, it was voters. They saw what could happen to the stock market, and didn’t want their Social Security dependent on its gyrations

Especially if a democrat governor ships them to a nursing home during a pandemic. They will die before they collect anything.

It seems to me, I have been hearing the same story or some variation of it since, Oh about 1960. Usually in late September or October.
Of course, it produces votes for...Guess Who from what Rush called “low information voters”.

I believe it! The GOP will self-sabotage so Trump can’t win in 2024.

So your saying there are still old people around that the dems care about? Or is it that the dems are disappointed because they didn’t get to kill them all off by shipping them to nursing homes during a pandemic?
