They may move the retirement ages up, but I don’t think they
will cut current payments to Social Security recipients. As
always, we don’t really know what’s up their sleeve before
they do it.

This is Yahoo, and I think we all know what their agenda is.

This is probably tame by what we will see over the next
few weeks.

After folks quit seething with anger, please remember that
the Democrats are the majority in the House and Senate.

No matter what the Republicans (supposedly) want, they
can’t pass it without the majority side.

Next year, if we have the majority, there will still be
a lot of opposition to reducing payments. Not happening!

The proposal is to raise eligibility to age 70. That’s a huge cut because it would mean many would die before they became eligible. Also, with age-related firings common in modern America - and most employers uninterested in hiring anyone over 50, let alone 65 - you’d have a vast number of people too old to get hired but too “young” to get Social Security
