Wow you really have zero idea how old one must be to collect SS, the SSA sets the age requirement, depends on birth year.
Oh, I understand all that. And more. I’m very late 60’s and have been drawing for a couple of years. And have plenty of outside income.
I just don’t understand how people can’t grasp that the system, as it stands, is not sustainable. It’s a mathematical impossibility. So we just pretend ....
We have thought that way since I was in my teens.
I don’t make the laws. I can’t get them to wake up.
We need to start putting SS receipts into some sort of
growth fund. Start at 2% and raise the level to 100%
over the years.
D1 I was to wait till I was 66y and 2 months but got layed off in 2020 at 65y and 2 months I had to take a 10% haircut
I’m very sorry that happened to you.
If you’re making good money, it isn’t easy to replace the
income.
Thanks for reporting that on the forum. People need to see
what they may face.
Businesses are failing left and right these days too, so
it is possible for more people to get caught in this.
Thanks it sucked right in the middle of covid lockdowns I was making over 26.00 hr no one was hiring, now at 67 I know I will not get a job,

This is why I like FR. Just as I’m about to go over the edge after reading something, somebody reels me back in.
Thank you!
Just like clockwork the stories crank up that conservatives want to take away old peoples social security. Do people still fall for this?
I only have one cat and if he doesn’t get the expensive food he wants, he makes my life a living hades. So expensive if it is even in supply.
Peee shaw, this is a planted piece to sway votes. I seriously doubt this will happen, it was planned or discussed, or even thought of.
You never know.
I’d look for menial jobs. To heck with the idiots who
won’t hire older folks.
Some places are going out of business looking for people
to fill some slots.
Ask around. Ask them if they know anyone hiring if they
can’t hire you.
I’m 71 and I entertain the thought of putting in some
hours somewhere.
Good luck to you.
That was a gift from Johnson to the Dems.
Here you go. It was 1994 though. My bad.
I still send my resume out for wfh data entry nothing yet, but I keep trying
I hope it works for you.
Finding even a $20 an hour job would help a lot.
Mine eat the expensive stuff too. One has a cry like nails on a chalkboard and another is an 18lb monster. They get the good stuff. ;-)
THAT WOULD BE A MISTAKE!!!!!!!!!!
That’s not a treaty. That’s just some Clinton agreement. Treaties have to go to the Senate for ratification.
Also, the signatory government of Ukraine was overthrown in 2014 and replaced by coup leaders.
If you murder you neighbor, you don’t suddenly get to take over his spot in any contracts he may have been party to.
