i dont remember the govt building gas stations
That's not accurate at all. At least not with EV's made in the past few years and chargers made in the past few years. My EV takes 10-15 minutes to charge at one of the newer chargers. (At home it takes hours, the same for if I stay at a hotel with a charger. Those chargers are expected to take hours to charge while I sleep.) So I agree with you that the gubment shouldn't be "helping". I just want our side to argue with accurate facts.
My problems with this as an owner of both an EV and an ICE pickup:
1. I don't like the gubment forcing us to do anything. IMHO EV's can sell in the free market, and ICE cars can sell in the free market. Both have their strong points and both have their weakness. I don't need corrupt gubment making the choice for me.
2. The more the gubment "helps" set up chargers the more it's like everything else the gubment does to "help" us: they make it suck. The service is bad. When chargers need repairing it takes forever. An no competitor wants to set up a charger nearby if no money can be made with a "free" charger near it. Us EV owners are better off if chargers are set up by the free market just like gas stations are.
3. I agree with others that part of the push to get us into EV's is to control us. They want to make us dependent on electricity for mobility while at the same time making electricity less dependable and expensive. That's one of the reasons I have diversity in my mobility: both an EV and an ICE car. That way the Dims have to make our mobility difficult in two areas (both gas and power) to limit mine and my wife's mobility. This is also one of the reasons I have a large solar system and an all electric house. (If the Dims make all energy sources too expensive and hard to come by, at least the one energy source that radiates on my land can't be regulated away by the Dims. It's not 100% dependable, but it's good enough to keep me from having to buy too much from the grid as my wife and I drive around as much as we want -- at least locally.)
the taxpayers take it in the azz again...and private money isn’t doing this because??? FJB!!!
I won't shop there again. The damn liars - it's not on them; it's on me and all the other customers.
All I know is gas is back to $7.00 per gallon here after Brandon sold the reserves to China and Russia and I’m supposed to be what? Overjoyed?
I once lived in Long Beach California. Thousands of the residents there live in vast swaths of apartment buildings all across the city. The apartments typically don’t have garages, so cars have to be parked on the street. My question is, how and where are the owners of EVs that are parked on residential streets supposed to charge their batteries??
Since when has the government ever invested
taxpayer dollars in gas stations?
This is all about controlling freedom of
movement, and the ability to track you
wherever you go.
There could be much more non-polluting
modes of transportation available given
the time to discover and engineer.
Why the hard push to EV’s?
An electric car driver exclusively using rapid or ultra-rapid public chargers pays around 18p per mile for electricity, compared with roughly 19p per mile for petrol and 21p per mile for diesel, according to new figures.
“The rest of us will take the electric bus to “nowhere”.”
What leads you to believe there will be any ‘rest of us’?
If there should be any, more than likely there will be a
lesser number. Many will have been starved to death or imprisioned for uncommitted crimes (IE: hair parted improperly)
Question for EV owners— does an EV use power when it’s stationary, or only when it is moving? If you are stuck in a traffic jam is your battery still being used?
This is one of the stupidest human beings around. Where will the electricity come from? It has to be generated and “green sources” will not come close to providing it.
Solyndra
they are taking away our means to heat and cool, food production....
the intent is to squish us like a bug
Next door to a charging station is a good place for a massage spa. Guys can use the excuse they needed a charge.
I KNOW! And then there was the idiot that tried to back the box truck out that was parked next to the flaming EV. LOL!
“If you are stuck in a traffic jam is your battery still being used?”
Is the heat on? Is the AC on? Is the radio on? Are the lights on? Is your foot on the brake?
My question is “how bad did he get booed in Detroit?
Not many EV lovers up there.
On the one hand I have no issue with this. As batteries continue to improve electric vehicles will become the obvious and appropriate solution. I’m fine with the creation of infrastructure to support it. Energy diversity isn’t a bad thing.
On the other hand, we’re broke...stop spending like drunken sailors and let market forces decide - but of course this is all about ‘saving the planet’, all while China turns on coals plants weekly and the carbon footprint to create the batteries means EV’s need to drive 80k miles before they have a net positive impact.
