The right’s culture-war excesses have suddenly put Democrats on the front foot going into the midterm elections.
Is an unseen army of women and young voters about to rescue the Democrats? It’s risky to predict outcomes, but it sure looks like the troops are in formation.
Item: News5 Cleveland reported in late August that Ohio has seen some 90,000 new registrants since the Dobbs decision.
Item: KDKA Pittsburgh reported recently that the voter registration gender gap in Pennsylvania is 12 points, three times the normal gap. More than 60 percent of these registrants are under 25.
Item: Over the weekend, the Houston Chronicle reported that registration is “surging” in Texas among young voters. “It’s not that we’re not seeing a surge from women but that in Texas, we’re somewhat uniquely also seeing a surge from men, particularly younger, more progressive men, who are matching the surge from women,”
The biggest surge of all was in Kansas, and we saw the results of that: a massive win for abortion rights advocates as voters rejected a referendum that would have allowed the state legislature to tighten abortion laws. Female registrations have even surged in Idaho, where they’re less likely to make a difference given how deep red the state is. On the other hand, it’s a small state, so not many votes are needed to flip a statewide result. And if it could happen in Kansas …

Sorry Michael Tomasky whoever you are.
The invisible army of pro-lifers are greater than the death squads of infanticide-rights voters.
See The Narrative of 2012, Richard Mourdock/Todd Akin versions.
The Media created a Narrative to cover for the massive vote fraud in the Indiana and Missouri US Senate races that year.
I'm quite certain that a massive degree of fraud was involved in that election, as every election going forward will be the case. Democrats CANNOT lose, and will do anything to ensure this.
There is also the fact that many referendums are not worded clearly so voters may not have known just what they were approving. It also was not clear if the failure to amend the Kansas constitution means abortion without any restrictions up to birth is now the law.
If you think that every time your cause “loses” that it is some nefarious conspiracy, you need to take a step back and look at the world a little differently.
And if you think the demonic left has any scruples at all about cheating anyway, by any means, then you need to learn what you are up against.
“There is also the fact that many referendums are not worded clearly so voters may not have known just what they were approving”
Maryland had a referendum about its legislative districts a few years ago. The vetoproof legislature had it worded something like: yes or no “Maryland’s legislative districts should be drawn in accordance with the US constitution. The constitution only requires continuous districts of roughly equal numbers. It says nothing about gerrymandering. The left, Democrats in the courts and state legislature, were very careful NOT to publish the map showing the extreme gerrymandering.
Invisible killers of the invisible children.
Such a brave warrior army.
It’s the economy, stupid.
—James Carville, 1992
Fraud is ubiquitous in US elections. However all the republicans endorsed by Trump won in Kansas. It was opposite for the abortion referendum.
Thatus undeniable truth. I have hard time understanding all the legalise language in referendums.
Other states don't have referenda on their ballots. I suspect that is the differentiating datum.
Invisible Army = voter fraud.
It’s the women obsessed with abortion rights, when modern medical advances make it so much easier to prevent pregnancy in the first place.
That is true only with people who can think rationally for themselves.
SCOTUS’s decision said that the question of abortion should be decided by the states and their voters, that is, it should be a political rather than a judicial decision. This doesn’t mean that the voters’ decisions will be right, but at least they will have a say. Pro-life is not going to win all of these fights, but then, hopefully we won’t lose all of them either.
Look at the numbers in Kansas. The abortion referendum got something like 25% more votes than any of the statewide elected officials on the ballot. Those voters weren’t actual human beings. Just more vote fraud from our friends on the Left.
The red wave will barely be a ripple.
