HONOLULU (HawaiiNewsNow) -- An Oahu grand jury has indicted the Hawaii Marine accused of fatally stabbing his estranged wife on the H-3 Freeway with second-degree murder.
Sgt. Bryant Tejada-Castillo, 29, remains behind bars on $1 million.
Court documents say 27-year-old Dana Alotaibi had stab wounds to her neck, chest, and left temple.
She also lacerations to her wrist, hands, and thigh.

Friends and relatives say Alotaibi had described the relationship with her husband as abusive, and said she was attempting to get a divorce. They also said she was pregnant at the time of her death.
Authorities say the weapon used in the attack last week was a Gerber pocket knife.
Police caught Castillo in the bushes nearby with self-inflicted wounds and he was taken to the hospital.
This is so sad....This couple at been on the radar at Marine Corps Base Hawaii , and yet whomever knew, failed to act, effectively. The brutal husband killed her with a utility tool . Sickening
i read the divorce was final in June- she was pregnant with a boyfriends baby- guy must have snapped.
Poor girl.
>>Why not a court martial?<<
.
An issue of jurisdiction. Had the murder occurred on a military facility, certainly a court martial. It occurred off base, so the civilian authorities will handle the case. The Marine Corps eventually will discharge him.
It did not happen on base, so the military lets the civilian authorities handle it.
It doesn't matter. An active duty member of the Armed Forces is subject to the UCMJ,every minute of every day, regardless (don't know how it works for Reserves/Guard). If the Navy chose to do so he *could* be court martial-ed despite being "off duty" and "off base".
I suppose that the Navy might decline to prosecute as a courtesy to the State of Hawaii...but IMO a crime like this calls for much more that 20 years in state prison.
Why didn’t public employees, from the cops to social services to the courts, give that woman the protection and assistance she clearly required?
WTG, Deep State!
Another casuality in your very real war on women.
Is the Gerber pocket knife company partially responsible for this?
What about their baby food division?
Apology to liberals if my sarcasm has gone over your head/s.
WHY is there an INTERSTATE HIGHWAY in Hawaii??
WHY is there an INTERSTATE HIGHWAY in Hawaii??
Sounds like a question from the old Groucho Marx tv show.
“WHY is there an INTERSTATE HIGHWAY in Hawaii??”
The interstates in Hawaii are built using interstate funds.
Hawaii never should have been a state.
“Hawaii never should have been a state.”
They must have been thinking about a strategic presence in that area of the Pacific.
Why do we care about this story. Similar things happen every day around the country. Its been a week of this story. I don’t get it. Yes its sad. Yes a poor women died too early. But 2 million people die in the US every year. Many of their stories are sad. This one is not unique. I just don’t care.
