A Russian lawmaker called for Lithuania's independence to be repealed, submitting a draft bill claiming the Baltic republic illegally left the Soviet Union more than three decades ago.

The proposed legislation was submitted to the Russian lower house, the Duma, on Wednesday by Yevgeny Fyodorov, a member of the ruling United Russia party.

In March 1990, Lithuania became the first republic to announce it intended to restore its independence from the disintegrating USSR, under whose control it had been for five decades after the Soviet army occupied it in 1940.

So, trying to treat them as “normal” is pointless. I’ve tried, for example, to explain the history of the Ukraine conflict, the damage Biden’s policies are doing to us and our erstwhile allies and how they have helped Russia, how we are foolishly benefitting China, how the media are lying about nearly everything relating to the conflict, what’s actually happening on the ground, how the Ukrainians are being used as pawns in a proxy war, and so on.

I think we should leave them to their Ensure and cable TV. They are invincibly ignorant.

No. Poland has sent 3/4 of its T-72MP tanks. They still have PT-91 Tawdy Tanks (Polish equivalent to T-90). They also have Leopard II Tanks. American tanks were already on order. And Poland is working wit South Korea on a Polish verison of the K2 Black Panther.

Sometimes, but there has been a tendency by these people to fall in line with government/media psyops on other subjects - Covid for example. I’m not concerned at all about intelligent disagreement over what is happening in the Ukraine, but one of the posters I’ve been watching’s entire repetoire of argument was to tell other posters who had written thoughtfully or had provided useful facts to “Go back to Russia!”, ask “Are you Russian?”, or refer to the poster as a “Putinista” or traitor.
