Biden administration announces additional $1 billion in military aid for Ukraine

The Biden administration announced on Wednesday it was providing an additional $1 billion in military aid to Ukraine to fight Russia, a package that includes shipments of additional howitzers, ammunition and coastal defense systems.

The latest weapons package comes as Ukraine's military is burning through its Soviet-era ammunition, while Ukrainian officials have pleaded with the West to send additional heavy weaponry as the war with Russia girds on.

Western intelligence and military officials believe the war is at a critical stage that could determine the long-term outcome of the conflict, while Russia has amassed a significant artillery advantage around two key cities in eastern Ukraine.

A Pentagon spokesman said the US has now committed more than $5 billion in security assistance to Ukraine since Russia invaded in February. Milley says Milley said that despite Russian forces outnumbering and outgunning the Ukrainian forces in the Donbas region, Russian consolidation of its control in eastern Ukraine was "not a done deal."

Yes, this announcement is separate and on top of the $40 billion to Ukraine recently agreed on.

I’d be okay with sending Ukraine another $200 billion in weapons.

Allows us to get rid of old stocks, upgrade our equipment while stopping the evil that Russia is perpetrating.

He’s already on the level of Charles deGaulle, who fled his homeland and waited out the war while the Allied powers sacrificed all the blood, so that deGaulle could make his triumphant return and become dictator. This is the Zelensky strategy, because we know he moved his family to Israel already.

"Ignorance is no excuse for complicity in mass murder."

When Ukraine stops using the weapons we give them to defend their country and starts killing innocent Russian women and children on Russian soil creating millions of Russian refugees, then educate me, and I'll reconsider.

Oh and all the Russian refugees that are fleeing Russia because they don't support the war, or they don't want to live under the new censorship laws, or they don't want to be drafted into an unjust war, thoses don't count. Those are on Putin.

drib drab drib drab drib drab

Biden’s first move after his call with Putin was to offer Zelensky safe passage from Ukraine.

Then Ukraine responded in a manner Biden’s planners did not think possible, and then the Biden admin was looking at another Afhganistan on their watch and had to rejigger their plans. Having no real strategy other than to look like they are doing something, the Biden admin is conducting a half-hearted half-baked committment. Their actions are likely to produce results they wrongly thought they were avoiding.

The Biden administration is as incompetent as Biden.
