Complaint: McDonald’s intentionally sold Muslim family bacon

BOSTON (AP) — Workers at a McDonald’s restaurant in Massachusetts intentionally put bacon on a fish sandwich that a Muslim woman had ordered for one of her children, a civil rights organization said Wednesday.

The Council on American-Islamic Relations filed a discrimination complaint on the woman’s behalf with the Massachusetts Commission Against Discrimination.

"not being a fan of" and having a religious obligation are two different things. If we made the complainants Orthodox Jews we might be more sympathetic (though most Orthodox Jews would not chance a McDonald's since sausage, bacon, cheese come in contact with everything).

On the very extreme end there are people who have severe sensitivities to pork, etc. Fast food joints make mistakes all the time, and folks with a serious issue should check their food or buy elsewhere, but that does NOT excuse purposefully providing the wrong food and wasting good bacon!

I always order fast food with no cheese. 75% of the time I get cheese anyway. I don’t like the taste, but were I an observant Jew it would be a legitimate problem. The 16 year old slapping together burgers for minimum wage doesn’t care either way.

I think you need to assume the risk in these cases. If you have religious or health dietary restrictions, don’t go to fast food places that can verily easily mix up your order.
