Mike Pence was Right
Americanthinker.com ^ | April 29, 2022 | Flyoverpen

On January 6, 2021, in the chamber of the U.S. House of Representatives, Vice President Mike Pence, in his role as presiding officer of a joint session, counted the electoral college votes for President, just as his predecessors had done for every presidential election since the founding of the republic. Sounds routine enough, doesn’t it?

Not quite.

For that act, Mike Pence became the most hated man in America among Trump supporters. Millions of Americans were left fuming at Pence for squandering the golden opportunity to flip what they were certain was a Democrat-rigged election.

Trump supporters with a grain of sense realized Pence couldn’t simply refuse to count electoral votes they didn’t like. Instead, the plan was for Pence to separate out the electoral votes of the states where there was known to be a competing set of votes in play and sending all the electoral votes back to those states of origin for “reconsideration.” Surely enough of these states would then return “reconsidered” votes to flip the election for Trump. President Trump himself was solidly behind this strategy.

The problem was, Pence was opposed to it and acted accordingly.

Some of the subsequent responses to Pence’s action, particularly in the media, have proceeded to degenerate into sheer Democrat behavior. (I can’t think of a more apt way to describe them.)

It might have sent the Election to Congress, where at least the Voter fraud would have been voided.

The real problem was that the political leaders of the contested states all punted on the issue. Should not have come down to Pence.

For one thing, the scenario you present is the last thing you’d ever want in this country for a presidential election. Read Sen. Tom Cotton’s letter explaining his opposition to the electoral vote objections on January 6th for a good education on the subject.

Secondly … the process for Congress to elect the president is only applicable in a case where no candidate gets a majority of the electoral votes. It was put in place at a time when there were often three or more presidential candidates winning states, and there was a strong possibility that the “winner” would have less than half the electoral votes. It was never designed for a situation where one man (the VP) could unilaterally decide not to accept the electoral votes from any states.

“.original statutes did not “define” “

Yep

Lots of simple, legally straight ways be could have done the right thing.

Could have just taken a bathroom break, for a few days too

But be rolled over, like a good RINO, proving he should never had been near the Oval Office to begin with.

There’s another article posted this morning on this forum that indicates that the J6 thing was not only planned, but it was done to prevent 14 Senators from presenting convincing evidence of fraud. McConnel begged them not to do it, and then J6 happened and that became the story.

The story about the evidence presentation is easy enough to corroborate. I tend to believe it.

I also think McConnel has actually been more effective than Pelosi at ensuring progressivism remains the agenda of the Establishment party in DC.

Every article or commentary from the left or from the anti Trumpers throws in the phrase that there is no proof of a rigged election.

Biden's state Delaware changed its election machinery and absentee rules such that 150,000 absentee votes were counted, whereas no more than 10,000 absentees had ever appeared historically.

The key to a fair election is:

NO ABSENTEE VOTES

If you don't or can't show up at the pollng place with proper identification, too bad. Jail for duplication.

In counting the ballots from actual people showing up at the polling places, Trump won the Delaware election. But he lost it to the 96,000 Biden absentee votes "rigged" by the new rules and machines instituted only a year before the 2020 general election.

Smells read bad to me, when the behaviors of previous presidential voting population was compared.

Someone is trying to set Pence up so he can run for President! No PR is ever going to work! He is a lost cause. The majority of republicans will not vote for him let alone independents and democrats.

Playing dirty wins.

Just ask a demonrat.

Nice-guys finish last...politics is a blood-sport.

Say what you will about Bill Clinton(all true)...but he cleaned-out everyone he felt could/would not be a loyalist, and while Trump is a fighter...he let establishment hacks pick his cabinet, supreme court nominees, you name it.

Trump was "destroyed from within" even before "the steal".

His greatest accomplishment?...exposing THEM...but that only means something when "the people" do something to remove these traitors from positions of power.

...that didn't happen either, instead...THEY removed Trump.

Bottom-line...politics is no place to take the high road.

Look we know media is pretty much 100% demonrat, they're "selected" to push the 'rat agenda, protect them at all cost, while smearing republicans conservatives every chance they get...the best Republicans can do is ignore them and do what's right for the country...stop being on defense, worrying about being called "names"...go on offense, get nasty.

"insanity is doing the same thing over and over and expecting a different result"

...like electing the same RINO's who go along to get along?

...purge them...before they purge U.S.

And does pence think he has a chance of being the nominee in 2024?

Two chances - fat and slim.

One of the worst American Thinker essays I have read to date.

I dunno. It's pretty tough competition up at the top there. Yes this one is really bad, but there have been some doozies lately. When did they become neo-con never Trump headquarters?

I tend NOT to believe it. Any one of those 14 senators could have made that evidence public regardless of whether it was permitted to be shared within Congress on January 6th. I haven’t seen any such thing. As it turned out, it took many months for an election audit to be completed in a single county (Maricopa) in a single state (Arizona).

This is absolutely false. Some officials in several states may have done this, but there wasn’t a single case where a government official or a legislative body empowered to act on behalf of a state did any such thing.

I’m amazed at those who wish to give Kamala the power to choose the next president. If Pence could choose which votes to count, then so can the next VP.
