Ex-wife accuses Missouri GOP Senate candidate of abuse

COLUMBIA, Mo. (AP) — Former Missouri Gov. Eric Greitens, now a leading Republican Senate candidate, was physically abusive and demonstrated such “unstable and coercive behavior” that steps were taken to limit his access to firearms, according to new allegations from his ex-wife revealed in court records on Monday.

The sworn affidavit from Sheena Greitens is part of an ongoing child custody dispute in Missouri. A public affairs professor at the University of Texas, she sought divorce from Eric Greitens after a sex scandal that led to his resignation as governor in June 2018. She’s now asking the court to move the custody case to Austin in part to spare her children from renewed public attention as Eric Greitens tries to mount a political comeback.

Eric Greitens’ campaign did not immediately comment Monday. An attorney for Greitens couldn’t be reached for comment. The allegations could complicate his bid to emerge from Missouri’s Aug. 2 primary as the GOP nominee and potentially jeopardize his party’s chance to hold onto a key Senate seat in the general election.

In the affidavit, Sheena Greitens casts her ex-husband as someone who threatened to use his political connections and influence in order to destroy her reputation to win custody of the children.

I'm not a Greitens fan and I'm not judging his guilt here. I will say that this state is not afraid to elect Democrats to high office and I think Greitens would be toast if he gets the nomination.

The St Louis DA already came after him. The deep state can’t stand the guy.

If it’s proven that you’re a schmuck in your private life, you’re easily blackmailed or ‘bought off’ in a public office.

We don’t need that, no matter what the party affiliation.

This guy was already booted from being Governor, for Pete’s Sake. Don’t reward him for bad behavior, Missouri!

“Obama did the same to Jack Ryan.”

You’d be amazed at how many Socialist Democrats don’t know about that! I remind them every chance I can.

In all cases of contested 'child custody',
all bets are off, and civility and sanity goes out the window.
The woman believes that her identity as a 'Mother' is in jeopardy,
and the 'Father' generally assumes the role of a breadwinner, and becomes a 'visitor'.

This could spell the end of Greitens candidacy . He has raised a ton of $$. But the last thing this State needs and the last thing America needs is another Democrat.

The Democrat machine is starting up its state and local Narratives for the fall "election".

The national machine gins up these kind of "dramas" with its Brandon Media, so that when they rig the "election", it looks organic.

They actually did it before in Missouri with Claire McAsskill and Todd Akin in 2012.

"McAsskill" got more votes than Milt Romney, who won the state going away, and she beat the Halfrican at the top of the ticket by 260,000 "votes".

TOTALLY rigged - Harry Reid needed the Senate seat.

Sounds like Sheena may be a Biden and Harris supporter.

If it’s proven that you’re a schmuck in your private life, you’re easily blackmailed or ‘bought off’ in a public office.

These claims are hard to substantiate in these custody cases, which is why women have chosen as a weapon of choice, be it true or not. Once a spouse uses this defense, Democrats move in for the kill, if the claim is made to a political opponent.

Hell hath no fury...

I know of divorced couples that would do or say ANYTHING to hurt the other if given the chance.

Proof or it didn’t happen is all I will say.

I guess his wife’s lawyer told her how much money she could get if she accused him of abuse.

Sorry, I’m not taking divisive she-said divorce/custody testimony as the unvarnished truth. Everyone has a perspective in these kinds of situations.

Didn’t work on the Minnesota AG candidate. Why should it work now?

It did work on Sean Parnell, and getting the venue changed to a dem stronghold area is exactly how it worked on Sean Parnell. They'll keep using the same play book until they can't.

I believe it was a judge in Illinois who allowed the release of Ryan’s divorce records which showed he was a perv that did him in.

It would not have mattered had Mike Ditka run- ayatollah obama never would’ve been elected to the senate.

Yep at the very least, he did cheat on his wife just when he had become a rising star(and just a few years after swapping from dem to repub). Cheating on one’s wife used to be something a politician would automatically resign in shame for and not try to run again ever. At the very least, it automatically loses him the ultra conservative Christian and a big chink of the women’s vote in MO. Any divorced woman who had an a-hole for a husband will believe his wife, whether true or not.
