Fears that Russia will start a nuclear war have sparked panic-buying of radiation-blocking potassium iodide in the US and Europe — with the hard-to-get pills being sold for more than 10 times the usual price on sites such as eBay.
The largest distributors of the pills, which can counteract the effects of radiation poisoning, told CNN Business they have put a rush on making more after being overwhelmed with demand.

I have some pills. I’ve restocked every couple of years.
But I have a large AfR base 8 miles from my house. And the Pratt and Whitney factory is 10 miles the other way.
I think Potassium pills won’t do me a lot of good.
Seaweed also contains lots of iodine, so expect looting of sushi shops and Asian groceries right after the radioactive dust settles.
They don’t block radiation. But they do protect the Thyroid.
If you are many miles away from a strike, they actually perform their job.
If you are on the East coast….and there is. Full blown strike…never mind the pills.
If Putin nukes a few European cities - (but doesn’t start an all out nuclear war) the pills will help. Radiation will travel around the world for a time.

Anyone subject to this line of thinking also fall into the category of failing to understand the concept of ‘saving one bullet’.

Well, if the pills are big enough, you can plug up your problem, and not need toilet paper.
