COLUMBUS, Ohio — As of June 12, you no longer need a permit or training to carry a concealed handgun in Ohio.

Gov. Mike DeWine on Monday signed Republican-backed legislation to allow people in the state to carry a concealed handgun without a permit or training and no longer require them to proactively tell law enforcement during traffic stops that they’re armed.

Woo Hooo!

Just look what a little pressure on a RINO in an election year can do!

As it should be. There is nothing about permits, classes or anything to have before being allowed to carry.

If he wasn’t up for reelection, he would’ve vetoed it.

no permit or training to carry a concealed handgun

OR TRAINING?!

While constitutional, this doesn’t seem like a good idea. These people have not been taught to respect their weapons. Someone’s gonna get blown away in a bus or some kid will get shot in a grocery store. Some idiot walking around with a weapon down his sweatpants will drop it and misfire into some old lady. And then they’ll do a national crack down. I know how these people operate!

No this doesn’t seem like a good idea at all.

Constitution doesn’t envision training. However I highly recommend safety courses and more access to ammunition and shooting ranges for target

Agree! I've seen people buying semi-auto handguns ask, "Do I really need to know how to clean this?? I mean, how dirty can it get in my pocket?"

So you would ban concealed carry without training?

May I suggest an NRA course and range time to new owners?

Learn how to disassemble and clean your weapon. Quickly.

Also, if you can train tactically. Doesn’t matter the level, start somewhere.

Have fun.

Pennsylvania CCW license does not have a training requirement, without newsworthy issues from CCW people. But people still get training.

A training mandate typically means that you can ONLY get training from a state-licensed facility, which creates lots of ways for the state to erect barriers to carrying, like making training expensive, or limited with long waiting lines.

I've gotten hundreds of hours of formal training over the years.

Everyone should be trained in grade school. I’m an RSO and I see people all the time that have just bought firearms and are dangerous as hell. The worst are from the Northeast.

“So you would ban concealed carry without training?”

So you would feel comfortable with some idiot taking out a handgun and playing with it on a bus next to you whether he knows better or not because he was not trained? People shouldn’t handle a weapon without knowing how whether it’s concealed or not. That’s how innocents die. That’s like giving a 10 year old a car and saying goodbye.

I live in a “Constitutional Carry” State. There are training requirements for a CCW license but not for Concealed Carry without a license.

Good. I won’t have to renew my CCW permit later this year.
