Did Russia strike a legitimate target, or was it really a functioning hospital?
If there were armed, healthy fighters present it was a legitimate target. And a crime to have them there.
If not, a crime to hit a hospital. Unless by accident.
The US has made such mistakes multiple times and nobody ever paid a penalty.

The photo looks like one shell hit in a courtyard outside the building. Building had windows blown out and fascia messed up in a large area of the wall but not a direct hit on the building itself from the looks of it. No holes in the building.
Probably an inadvertent event.

I have no doubt the Russians probably shelled the hospital as it’s a war zone after all. I doubt they did so intentionally and it was a misfire/mistarget of sorts.

Haven’t heard anything come of Xiden’s oopsie dron strike in Afghanistan that killed 10, including 7 children.
I can remember when an artillery battery of six guns on a live-fire exercise fired three rounds each on an axis exactly 180 degrees opposite to where they should have been targeted. 18 rounds hit a farm near Copperas Cove, Texas, outside the limits of the Fort Hood range.
I was the stenographer for the III Corps command investigation ... and the Army ended up paying hundreds of thousands of dollars to replace livestock, two barns, and a farmhouse. Luckily, the family in the house was not physically harmed.

Why weren’t the women and children supposedly at this hospital evacuated well ahead of time?
Wasn’t there repeated attempts to establish humanitarian corridors in Mariupol?
Why are Azov hiding in schools and hospitals and refusing to let the civilian population leave?
Why did Azov mine the roads leading to evacuation routes?
Lots of hospitals in Dresden, Hamburg, Hiroshima, and Nagasaki.
War is really bad. It’s not Grenada or Panama. And when you have the right ROE to achieve victory, innocents suffer and innocents die.
Now, IF the Russian forces said, “Oh, there’s a hospital! Let’s blow it up”, that should be investigated by their command structure and compensation paid as appropriate.
But if an area was being shelled to end the war faster while achieving Russian objectives, and a hospital (among other structures) was damaged and people were killed? That’s why war is really bad.

Russian military aircraft dropped bombs on a children’s hospital in Mariupol.
This was reported by Censor.NET with reference to the telegram channel of the Mariupol City Council.
“So far, Russian occupation forces have dropped several bombs on a children’s hospital. The damage is enormous. The building of the medical facility where the children were treated recently has been completely destroyed. Information about the injured children is being clarified,” the statement said.
