During the conversation, Biden warned his Russian counterpart that the West would develop large-scale and unprecedented sanctions in the economic and military spheres should the crisis on the Ukrainian border continue to escalate. In response, Putin pledged to sever relations between Russia and the USA if new restrictive measures are implemented.
"Our president immediately responded to this by saying that if the West still decides to introduce the above-mentioned unprecedented sanctions under certain conditions, then all this could lead to the complete termination of relations between our countries. In addition, serious damage will be caused to Russia's relations with the West in general," Yuri Ushakov said.

Oil is everything.
The US consumes 10 million barrels per day more than it produces. The remainder comes from Canada #1 and #2 . . . Russia.
At the peak of US oil production, it still consumed far more than it produced. “Energy independence” was always a bit of conservative propaganda. It required contorted definitions. Oil is everything — and the US ran a significant oil deficit.
Russia consumes far less oil than it produces.
The real problem is this. Even if the US ramped production, it would still need to import oil. Cutting off buys from Russia does not hurt Russia because China increases its oil burn at about 7% per year and they were the ONLY COUNTRY that did not see a significant reduction of consumption to Covid. Meaning, China eats up any spare oil from Iran or anywhere.
Russia understands this. They have civilization’s lifeblood and it’s time to assert this.

Bat Boy was a REAL fantasy. Jan is all fake.
Putin threatening Israel, Sweden, and Finland today should show the world that Putin is a bully. He does not have the military to back up his threats, and the only way they can project power is with nukes. The Soviet military was a paper tiger, and Russia has not kept pace with the west at all.
Not a good bet for a nation that is less than 150,000,000 people and mostly in their larger cities. Nuking Russia back into the last ice age would only require one of our subs.
