Abbas told Pelosi Israel must halt Palestinian evictions in east Jerusalem

Israel must end its evictions of Palestinian families in east Jerusalem, Palestinian Authority President Mahmoud Abbas told US House of Representative Speaker Nancy Pelosi when the two met in Ramallah.

Their meeting took place as tensions have flared in the east Jerusalem neighborhood of Sheikh Jarrah, where at least 28 Palestinian families face eviction.

Abbas spoke with Pelosi on Thursday about "finally putting an end to Israel’s expulsion of Palestinians in occupied Jerusalem," according to the Palestine News Agency Wafa.

He similar called for Israel to respect the "status quo" on Jerusalem's Temple Mount and for it to put an end to settlement activity and settler violence.

The PA president also called for an Israeli withdrawal to the pre-1967 lines.

He "stressed the need to stop unilateral Israeli practices that undermine the two-state solution, in order to start a real political process in accordance with international legitimacy resolutions," Wafa reported.

Pelosi visited Israel and the Palestinian territories as the head of the Pelosi Congressional Democratic delegation that included House Intelligence Committee chairman Rep. Adam Schiff (D-CA), and fellow California representatives Barbara Lee, Eric Swalwell and Ro Khanna, as well as reps. Bill Keating from Massachusetts and Andy Kim from New Jersey.

In Ramallah, they met with Abbas and PA officials such as Prime Minister Mohammad Shtayyeh, Health Minister Dr. Mai Al-Kaila, civic society leaders and students.

“Today, our Congressional delegation held bilateral meetings with senior Palestinian officials to strengthen our important relationship with the Palestinian people," Pelosi said.

"The Congressional delegation emphasized our unyielding commitment to advancing the safety and security for all living in the region," she said.

"We also reaffirmed our commitment to pursuing an enduring two-state solution that supports security and economic growth in the region," the House speaker said.

"The conversation with President Abbas included a wide-ranging array of questions and exchange of ideas about the present and prospects for peace and opportunity in the region."

The delegation spent time in east Jerusalem before visiting Ramallah.

Abbas had broken off ties with the US when former President Donald Trump was in office but reestablished those relations when President Joe Biden entered the White House last year. Pelosi's is one of a number of high-level US visits to Ramallah that has occurred in that time.

And why evictions?

Muslims refuse to pay rent.

Sooooo, what must the Pali Arabs do?
The Pali Arabs always have a new demand. Tell ‘em to die horribly and move against them faster and harder.

These deadbeats haven’t paid rent since 1967. They’re 2nd and 3rd generation squatters.

No other country in the world would put up with such outlandish demands.

But of course Abbas knows that Democrat Party is full of kindred spirits who share his same warped views of the world.

This is a land dispute that was litigated in the courts and has nothing to do with the state of Israel. The last legal title owners to the disputed land were Jews. Jordan kicked out the legal title holders in 1948 and they finally got a court to do the right thing after years of litigation.

...Palestinian Authority President Mahmoud Abbas...
There is no such person, it's an alias for a criminal who is not an elected official -- he lost reelection years ago, and in the most recent moot election threatened his opponents with death. Figures that corrupticrat Pelosi would meet with him, besides the fact that she needed to pick up the check in person.

...Jordan kicked out the legal title holders in 1948...

Correct. The land was bought, paid for, and owned by Jews. Not one single acre was gained from force, theft or fraud.

In 1948, after Israel's independence, the land was simply plundered by Jordan. No compensation whatsoever was offered and there were zero attempts to negotiate with the rightful owners. No justification was made for the plunder, beyond the fact that the original owners were now Israeli Jews.

Israel regained sovereignty over the region following its victory in the 1967 war. The Knesset and courts of Israel quite rightly decided NOT to enshrine the prior plunder of Jewish property in territories that Israel now controlled. It would be both a moral outrage and a national humiliation.

But they also didn't want to allow the rightful owners to immediately evict all the squatters. They didn't want to create a population of homeless and embittered people. There were also genuine humanitarian concerns about giving the squatters ample transition time to either find new accommodations or to legally rent or purchase the properties they were squatting on.

The problem is that this "transition" has now been going on for 55 years. You have 3rd and 4th generation squatters who have never paid a dime of rent. Not only is this a form of theft, but it also renders the properties VERY undesirable for development or making major improvements.

In a sense, though the Arabs and their tenants gained the property from force, theft and fraud. Which has been allowed to persist for an additional half century.
