Former Housing and Urban Development Secretary Dr. Ben Carson blasted President Biden on Thursday for making identity politics a factor in his choice for a Supreme Court justice.
Biden said Thursday that he will announce his nominee to replace retiring Supreme Court Justice Stephen Breyer before the end of February, and that the candidate will be a Black woman.
"You know, this is America," Carson said during an interview on WMAL's "The Vince Coglianese Show," a local radio show in Washington, D.C.
"Many people fought and gave their lives to bring equality. And now we're reverting back to identity politics. And as we continue to do that, we're bringing more division into our country," Carson continued.
Carson went on to criticize those who claim no racial progress has been made in the United States, saying such claims are "not true."
"You know, when I was a kid, it was a big deal when you saw a Black person on television who wasn't in a servile role," he said. "And now you have Black CEOs of Fortune 500 companies, university presidents, generals, admirals. We've elected a Black president twice. You've got a Black vice president. Come on, to say that we haven't made any progress is silly."
Acknowledging there is still more room for progress, Carson admonished that "we should build on the good things and on the progress that we've made rather than always harping on what the negatives are."
Carson also warned about the precedent Biden could be setting by choosing a justice based on race and gender.

"We need a Supreme Court where we have the best candidates who understand the Constitution and are not trying to legislate from the bench," he continued, adding that "to create that kind of situation in the highest court in the land is really abominable, and very detrimental to our freedoms."

I disagree with Ben Carson that senile Sleepy Joe should not use "identity politics" to nominate a Supreme Court justice. I also disagree with senile Sleepy Joe's decision to nominate a "blAck Woman" as USSC justice. Instead, senile Sleepy Joe must nominate a transmigration, nymphonic, LGBTQPIAK-uncurious, questioning, crypto-punk as the next Justice.

Biden’s Supreme Court pledge is not Reagan’s nor Trump’s—it’s unfair
Commentators have also claimed that Donald Trump made the same pledge. After Ruth Bader Ginsburg died, Trump announced that “I will be putting forth a nominee next week. It will be a woman.” However, he had already publicly released three lists of possible nominees of different races and genders. His staff had been working on vetting those on the list. However, the final short list included not just Barrett (who received the nomination) but a majority of male jurists.
What is most striking about the Reagan-Biden comparison is how unnecessary it was for Biden to categorically rule out non-female and non-black applicants. He could have simply made clear that he wanted to add a black female to the Court and would make that a priority without promising that the first vacancy would be barred to other genders or races.
It was popular for many voters to say that “whites or males need not apply,” but it also meant that Biden would reject a Louis Brandeis or even a Thurgood Marshall because they are the wrong gender or race. It also meant that minority groups (including Native Americans or Asians) that have never had a justice would be also barred.

Funny, I recall the FINAL short list consisted of: Amy Coney Barrett, Barbara Lagoa (the latter two being named by the media as the most likely choices), Allison Jones Rushing, Joan Larsen, and Kathryn Comerford Todd.
Last I checked, they all had vaginas between their legs.
I don’t recall a single male judge’s name being floated by “insider sources” at the White House or even discussed as “under consideration” on FR after Trump publicly stated he HADN’T made a decision yet, BUT planned to pick a woman for the seat.
Perhaps your version of the ACB nomination exists in the same alternate universe where Mitch McConnell somehow forced Trump to pick squishy establishment hack & Kennedy clerk Brett Kavanaugh for SCOTUS.
Ben Carson is absolutely one of my favorite people, not only is he utterly brilliant he is so calming I absolutely LOVE THIS MAN!! To think he grew up in the ghetto with a single mom working all the time is astonishingly AMAZING!! I look at this man and realize just what this country has to offer if you apply yourself AND work hard!! America has ALWAYS guaranteed opportunity BUT never guaranteed outcome you HAVE TO WORK for the outcome!! I utterly HATE the narrative of the left, Clarence Thomas and Ben Carson are the living proof of the lies they spew!!
Remember Trump’s class act, waiting by the debate stage entrance for Carson to go before him before going on, after Carson could not hear his name called, among many snafus by the moderators? Loved that respect.
