Fox5 ^ | 01/25/2022 | Phil Blauer

Posted on 01/25/2022 10:05:30 PM PST by Houserino

CARLSBAD, Calif. — Carlsbad native Peter Robbins, the voice actor who brought Charlie Brown to life in the Peanuts cartoons from the 1960s, has died, his family told FOX 5. He was 65.

Robbins’ family said he took his own life last week.

FOX 5’s Phil Blauer was a close friend of the voice actor over the past 25 years. He says he had closely followed the voice actor’s ups and downs, from interviewing him in jail because of criminal threats he made against several people, including San Diego County Sheriff Bill Gore, to speaking with him when he was in rehab battling an addiction to drugs and alcohol.

So unfortunate. I remember the name and voice of Peter Robbins. RIP

If a kid is going to work as a performer in Hollywood, you would think that voice(s)-only acting would be among the safest and better paying jobs with very few negative consequences later on.

Must be COVID-19 related. Every other death is. So says the MSM.

To be honest his death is pretty much the first time I’ve ever heard of this guy.

His real life seemed to be the opposite of that Charlie Brown character, so relaxed, banal and never flustered.

"AAARRGH!"

I was shocked to learn this. He had a tough time, for sure, but he had been a featured guest at a few comicons recently. Very sad. His sister was an actress and died young.

It's got to be a tough life when your major accomplishment is being a voice for an old 60s cartoon character.

He made money signing Charlie Brown photos.

It really is 'Good grief'.

How surreal would it be getting a threatening phone call from Charlie Brown?

Or from Charlie Brown's Teacher.

who were his enemies?

************

Don’t know the WHO but the article states he had problems
with alcohol and drugs. They aren’t necessarily you friends.

>who were his enemies?

Peter Robbins as 'Dr T' on Get Smart
KAOS!

He played a genius kid scientist both Control and KAOS were trying to recruit in an adorable Get Smart episode, "The Mysterious Dr. T (1967)".

A guy whose name nobody knows, but when he dies, the news agencies somehow know.

“Growing up in the 1960s and 1970s was a really special time for children’s cartoons, and the Christmas specials were special for kids then.”

I was born in 1963.
The cartoon specials, especially the Christmas specials, from that period are still the best:

Charlie Brown Christmas
Rudolph the Red Nosed Reindeer
Santa Clause is Coming to Town
The Little Drummer Boy
Frosty The Snowman
