I can’t believe there are two and not zero.

Uh, you understand that the only way Manchin can kill the bill, is if all 50 GOP Senators were united against it.

Why doesn’t anyone want to give the GOP credit for standing united against BBB from the outset?

Manchin is only in the position of kingmaker, because all 50 members of the GOP are with him.

Don’t do AOC math.

“He can’t vote for a $2 trillion Build Back Better. But he can vote for a $1.7 trillion. Would probably compromise with a $1.85 Joe Machin is a fraud.”

His main complaint now is that all the crap is still in bill, but the timelines were shortened on much of it...hence the bill is, technically, cheaper. But Manchin (and the entire world) knows that once this crap is put in place it never goes away...and the net cost will wind up being the same in 10 years (at least 3.5T).

Manchin will support a bill roughly half that size if the numbers are real...meaning that if the Dems lop off 50% of what’s in today’s bill.

If I had to predict, at this point, the Dems will take as much as Manchin will give them and they’ll pass their (smaller) bill...but still without a single RINO voting for it.

“He voted for Kavanaugh’s confirmation because it was right before his 2018 senate election.”

Worse than that, Manchin WAITED for Susan Collins to announce her support (thereby being the 50th vote) before announcing his own support.

If Collins opposed Kavenaugh, Manchin would have done the same. He outright stated that he WOULD NOT put Kavanaugh over the top...it was up to the RINOs to do that, which they did.

He represents a state that Trump won by almost 40 points. Standing up to Biden’s disastrous agenda is as easy a decision to make as jumping in a pool when you’re on fire.

I'll take wins where I can. But, I have no love nor praise for any politician. Politics is a game fielded by prostitutes and scoundrels. The rest that do not fall into those categories are mere invertebrates.

Oh, come on! Manchin, like all politicians, is an actor. How much money do the Democrats and Republicans shake down from their stakeholders and constituents in the process of fighting or advocating the bill? Zillions of $. Manchin is just used as the fall guy so that both parties can fleece everyone in the process. Think of the Mafia threatening to not provide protection for your business unless you come up with some cash.

Don’t count your chickens yet.
He will change his mind as soon as the rats give him some more goodies.

Don’t count on him to do the right thing.

Manchin at least doesn’t let the threat of a ‘firestorm’ on the left dissuade him.

Finally, someone shows some spine against the Democrat insanity...the GOP needs to show some serious spine and stand with Manchin in opposing all this Democrat insanity!!

Did you just miss the part where the only reason Manchin's vote mattered at all is because every single Republican in the Senate opposed BBB long before he did??

This is why our side loses. We are made up of chumps who believe Manchin is a hero.

Didn't see that you already had said this about the 50 GOP Senators. I basically repeated the exact same reasoning about 10 posts down.

I'm going to add that the only reason McConnell was able to hold 50 Republicans plus Manchin on the BBB vote is that he gave them political cover by agreeing to the smaller stimulus bill already passed.

I didn't like that bill, and I know that a lot of other conservatives didn't either. But if McConnell hadn't given support to that first infrastructure bill, the ribosomes Manchin would have defected on a much larger one because they couldn't afford politically to do nothing.

This razor thin defeat of BBB shows that McConnell's political calculus was correct all along.

Wow- “ribosomes” was supposed to be “RINO’s and Manchin”. Auto-correct flat-out murdered that.

Don’t expect the trailer park crowd to ever recognize that, while not perfect, McConnell has played the political game very well.

He and Graham are good friends with Manchin, and they may have pulled him over on this one.

I’d feel some relief if I wasn’t so certain the GOP wants this money every bit as much as do the rats and this wasn’t all political theater.

Senator Manchin is at least a straight shooter. He examines what the democrats put out and opposes the nonsense bills.

He could do the country a favor and put the GOP back in control of the Senate.
