The House of Representatives committee investigating the Jan. 6 breach of the U.S. Capitol acknowledged on Wednesday that it doctored a text message between former White House chief of staff Mark Meadows and Rep. Jim Jordan (R-Ohio), excluding content about how they wanted former Vice President Mike Pence to handle electoral votes during the Joint Session of Congress earlier this year.
On Monday, Rep. Adam Schiff (D-Calif.), the head of the House Intelligence Committee, showed a graphic during a hearing on newly obtained communications between Meadows and others, including Jordan. The graphic was displayed as the Jan. 6 panel was discussing whether to hold Meadows in contempt of Congress for refusing to hand over information related to the probe.
The graphic included the title “Lawmaker Text to Meadows.”
The message was presented as follows: “On January 6, 2021, Vice President Mike Pence, as President of the Senate, should call out all electoral votes that he believes are unconstitutional as no electoral votes at all.”
“You can see why this is so critical to ask Mr. Meadows about. About a lawmaker suggesting that the former vice president simply throw out votes that he unilaterally deems unconstitutional in order to overturn a presidential election and subvert the will of the American people,” Schiff said.
However, the message was actually a direct quote from former Department of Defense Inspector General Joseph Schmitz, according to The Federalist. The text included an attachment of Schmitz’s determination that Pence could object to electoral votes from states.
The text was also altered to cut off the rest of the sentence, which stated, “in accordance with guidance from founding father Alexander Hamilton and judicial precedence,” the outlet said.
A spokesman for the House panel confirmed to The Epoch Times that the message was doctored.
“The select committee on Monday created and provided Representative Schiff a graphic to use during the business meeting quoting from a text message from ‘a lawmaker’ to Mr. Meadows,” the spokesman said in an email.
“In the graphic, the period at the end of that sentence was added inadvertently,” the spokesman added, without elaborating on how the error was introduced. “The Select Committee is responsible for and regrets the error.”
Jordan and Schiff did not respond to requests for comment.
Jordan’s office and Schiff’s office have not responded to The Epoch Times’ request for comment.
“Expect a lot more of this. Schiff and the contemptible Jan6 committee will twist and smear the narrative every chance they get,” wrote Rep. Andy Biggs (R-Ariz.) on Twitter Wednesday. Added Rep. Dan Bishop (R-N.C.), Schiff is the “Jussie Smollet of Congress,” referring to the former “Empire” actor who was convicted of concocting a hate crime hoax earlier this month.
The panel, which later voted to hold Meadows in contempt, previously acknowledged privately that one of its subpoenas contained misinformation, but has still not updated the public on that matter.
Congressmen have immunity from prosecution for anything they say on the floor of Congress.
If the House turns red in 22, shif should be assigned only to mopping the restrooms.
He should be expelled from Congress and never allowed back again.....................

“ LOVE IT. Should be repeated by every Republican.”
Agree but as the article says Jordan hasn’t commented. Most GOP congresscritters have been silent on Jan 6.
The comrade will receive the Order of Lenin for his heroic defense of the party.
“Isn’t lying to Congress a felony?”
How about:
“Is Congress lying to the people a felony? Or is it treason?”
Never fear.....”Persistence in evil brings about self-destruction”.....how and when requires our patience.
Jan. 6 Star Chamber.
“I didn’t think so”
Neither do I. There has been such a long run of political hacks in the white house over the last hundred years that the system has slowly, but most assuredly, dissolved into graft. I’m not sure with all the dishonest things both houses and many of the states have done, there is a chance that it can be syphoned back into the reality that they work for us, the country, and not for themselves. Either way it is for their survival in the fortune and glory part of their field and is protected by dishonesty rather than the truth.
One of the great things about Trump getting in, and it was obvious from the start, he had no political dirt from the past that they could use against him. So they created some none of which meant anything and never got on trial in the senate after a crooked house got him impeached. Shows you just how important impeachment is since it only carries weight in the wind not on solid ground.
But Trump, with his lack of political background that can be used as a weapon, scares the hell out of the socialists. They can’t get him for anything worth a squat and he isn’t afraid to speak his mind because he knows it. The only president that wasn’t filthy since right before and long after FDR was Reagan. And he was made the fool by broken promises from congress. Same with W from the housing debacle. They was too nice and Bush was a fool. Trump isn’t. He’s a businessman, with knowledge of politics. A liberal’s worst nightmare. But it appears he’s alone and will get no support from the trolls. Can’t say he can do enough to right our country without the help he needs and won’t get until the voters grow a pair and vote for the country instead of what they are told by professional liars.

Only when others (people you don’t like) do it. If you’re in the club you get a free pass.
If that is true, they should bump him from the committee.
Meadows and Jordan should publicly demand that Schiff resign or be removed from the House for lying to Congress. He is guilty of contempt of Congress - he and not Meadows should go to prison. They should sue him, even if it gets tossed because the scumbag has the right to say anything he wants without legal consequences while on the floor of the House.
The RNC should also blast ads all across the nation about how this scumbag is the face of the Dems, as the Dems refuse to even condemn him, let alone remove him from committees or from his seat. Make it personal - go after Pelosi snd the rest of the leadership. Oh, wait, that’s right, we’re talking about the Stupid Party...never mind.
