Mobs overwhelmed U.S. Park Police hours before the U.S. Capitol was breached on Jan. 6, according to government watchdog Citizens for Responsibility and Ethics in Washington (CREW).
According to Park Police radio recordings obtained by CREW, officers had been overwhelmed and left with insufficient resources to control crowds along the National Mall.
The recordings reveal that Park Police were confronted with one crowd at the Washington Monument the morning of Jan. 6. The officers were told to do their best to hold them back, but the situation was worsening quickly.

Somehow we never heard about this until nearly nine months later? Even if true, it raises the question of why wasn’t security beefed up in the HOURS between this alleged incident and what happened later?
There was a huge crowd down by the Monument to hear President Trump. At least twice the size of previous election year crowds. They were well behaved and self regulating. We left that end of the National Mall early and walked down to the Capitol. We had a nice lunch by the pool, then walked around the Capitol. We saw a measly amount of police dressed in high visibility cloth vests behind some bike racks and four foot plastic fences. I commented that this wasn’t enough to stop any serious action, thinking Antifa and BLM would try to make trouble. People were listening on the radio to what was going on inside. As the crowds at the Capitol got larger, the police started shooting tear gas and other explosives into the crowd. Security had deliberately left scaffolding and chairs stacked around the hill. Some inciters climbed the scaffolding and started exhorting people to push into the Capitol. That’s when we left. The security of DC deliberately did not bring enough resources for the crowd they should have anticipated. If security had gone into the crowd and taken out a dozen or so Commanders, everything would have been okay.
Get them for illegal entry and trespassing, as long as you
can prove the police didn’t invite them in.
