Report: Top Democrat Lawyer Uses Dark Money Network to Fund Progressive Lawsuits

Top Democratic attorney Marc Elias has been using a dark money network to fund lawsuits geared toward advancing progressive causes, from fighting voter ID laws to enshrining universal mail-in voting, according to the watchdog group Americans for Public Trust.

Elias, who previously helped push the “Russia collusion” hoax after serving as Hillary Clinton’s top campaign lawyer, recently parted ways from the Perkins Coie law firm to start the Elias Law Group – a firm dedicated to advancing the Democratic Party’s agenda in the name of “voting rights.”

“Elias Law Group is a new law firm headquartered in Washington, D.C., with an office in Seattle, WA, focused on helping Democrats win, citizens vote, and progressives make change. Central to the firm’s mission will be its own diversity and inclusion,” exclaimed a Perkins Coie press release.

Prior to the formation of his new firm, Elias formed extensive ties with a dark money network headed by Arabella Advisors, a company that manages several non-profits: Hopewell Fund, the Sixteen Thirty Fund, the New Venture Fund, and the Windward Fund. According to Fox News, in July 2020, Elias created the Democracy Docket Legal Fund, which was a “fiscally sponsored project of the Hopewell Fund,” one of the non-profits managed by Arabella Advisors:

Wealthy Democratic donors use these funds to pour cash into dozens of initiatives that fall under Arabella’s umbrella.

According to the network’s most recent tax forms, the four funds combined to haul in $715 million in cash from secret donors in 2019 alone. The group also pushes money to outside organizations that do not fall under its auspices.

In addition to Democracy Docket LLC, Elias created the Democracy Docket Action Fund to raise money for voting rights lawsuits.

Anything illegal about it?

Sadly, there are enough liberal, activist lawyers that would do this work for free. All to advance the agenda.

Is there a Conservative counter to these activities? NOPE. Never will be.

Nonprofit is now the umbrella to hide shenanigans. I hope there is a way to attack this guy legally and put him out of business.

....”Nonprofit is now the umbrella to hide shenanigans”....

You find these popping up wherever elections are tight. Also was the first thing Harry and Megan did when they landed here. They’re used to funnel and wash money.

Caitlin Sutherland, Executive Director of Americans for Public Trust, said that the dark money network will provide Elias “access to nearly unlimited funding to file lawsuits across the country.”

Sutherland told Fox News:

Marc Elias just launched his new firm, but what has not been reported is the funding source for his lawsuits. Mr. Elias frequently raises money for the Democracy Docket Action Fund, but what he isn’t telling his loyal followers is the fund is a project of the Arabella-connected North Fund.

And his other group, Democracy Docket Legal Fund, is just a project of the Arabella-managed Hopewell Fund. All of this together means that as Arabella Advisors’ dark money attorney, Mr. Elias will have access to nearly unlimited funding to file lawsuits across the country.

Some companies, however, have publicly stated their support of Elias’s groups, such as J.J. Abrams’ production company Bad Robot, which donated $1 million to the Democracy Docket Legal Fund in April to “help fight voter suppression.”

I get that. So, basically, like the DOJ he has an unlimited supply of money to drown the opposition in paperwork, but advertisements, pay off witnesses, so on and so forth.

I can tell you that I 100% think this guy is a POS, should be put in a prison where he would be a human toilet. But, that isn’t going to happen.

Anyway, is what he and his benefactors are doing, illegal? And why isn’t there a Conservative counter to it?

In 2020 and 2021, on behalf of the Biden campaign and the Democratic National Committee, Elias oversaw the state-by-state response to lawsuits filed by the Trump campaign contesting the election results.

On March 12, 2021, the 5th Circuit Court of Appeals issued sanctions on Elias and other Perkins Coie attorneys for “redundant and misleading” motions related to a case in which Marc Elias and his legal team argued that the elimination of straight-ticket voting in Texas disproportionately affected minorities. In the ruling, the court stated that Elias and his team “did not notify the court that their latest motion to supplement the record filed on February 10, 2021 was nearly identical to the motion to supplement the record filed several months ago by the same attorneys, on September 29, 2020.”
