I have a genuine concern that something’s going to happen before all boots on the ground are evacuated. The Taliban is emboldened and have the Russian and Chinese to back them. They could take out a few loaded planes with little repercussions, and the White House would just deflect.

It’s like the Alamo without the competent leadership.

“military chiefs admitting they can only continue as long as the Taliban allows it.”

If true this is a rather weak statement coming from the US military.

Just saw they are letting non-afghans in..

translation the 50,000 Afghans that worked for the west are toast

one said all they have to do is google his name to see that he worked for the US

also explains reports yesterday that the US might just leave those Afghans behind

Former Royal Marine commando Paul 'Pen' Farthing, who runs an animal sanctuary in Kabul, warned that they were being told to come to the airport but left at the mercy of crowds and Taliban forces who have it under siege.

Sounds to me like this guy left Great Britain and took up residence in Afghanistan years ago. His wife may even be an Afghan national, for all we know.

How's that working out for you, bloke?

Besides everyone in the Biden Administration, who didn’t see this coming?

Only people who believes that men can get pregnant could possibly be this stupid.

Looks like Biden’s fiasco is turning out to be a 55 DAYS AT KABUL. With no Charlton Heston or David Niven to organize things.

Im sure all the media experts who had a meltdown about taking forces out of Syria have come unglued now about Afghanistan. I don’t have cable TV to see the reports.

What astounds me is that nobody seemed to predict this chaos and that the Taliban would not play nicely with their enemies.

Even this morning, the Biden administration estimated it would take weeks, if not months, to evacuate all of the Americans, Afghans and even our own troops left in the country.

Who ARE these incompetents who are so naive they think they are still in control? Anybody listening to Biden and watching what was happening, knew this whole situation was a disaster and would fall into mass chaos rapidly.

The Taliban don't care about our self-interests. Their agenda is to kill as many Afghans and Americans who opposed them for 20 years. They don't concern themselves with optics or niceties. They are ruthless barbarians.

We were phuqued as soon as Biden took charge. He screwed this whole withdrawal up from the beginning. Words do not begin to describe how bad this is going get.

And there's Joe yesterday denying any responsibility for what's happening.

It’s like Saigon, with the embassy surrounded by the North Vietnamese Army. And the evacuees are outside the embassy and have to show their papers to get access to the embassy.

It comes as Royal Navy Vice Admiral Sir Ben Key, who is organizing the RAF evacuation from Permanent Joint HQ in Northwood, admitted to Sky News that people wanting to be evacuated would have to rely on the Taliban letting them through.

‘Much of that journey is for them to undertake,’ he said.

and there it is...

I do not understand why anyone pointing out how Biden botched this evacuation does not mention that we abandoned Bagram Airbase several weeks ago by turning off the electricity and just leaving without even informing the Afghan government or Afghan military. We just gave the Taliban everything that was still there.

Bagram was not just an airport. It was a hardened airbase many many kinds of planes and helicopters and weapons. Bagram also had housing for thousands of troops and a hardened perimeter.

Do the people supposedly explaining the difference between what Biden has done and what Trump planned to do even know this? Maybe they are really just more examples of the complicit party in addition to the stupid party.

The Taliban wants us out as much as we do. But, eventually, Biden will have to pay the Taliban to open the ring surrounding the airport and let our people into the airport. This is a version of loser pays when it comes to losing a war and screwing up the exit. You pay through the nose (cash on pallets) to get out as well as lose face globally for not planning the contingencies of an exit.

History repeats itself. The Afghan tribal leaders “negotiated” safe passage for the British army through the Khyber pass during their withdrawal in 1848. The Afghans systematically picked them off while telling them they were safe.
