This is similar to Stalingrad, when the Wehrmacht was cut off, Hitler after initially telling to them stand firm and not retreat got encircled, when he finally sent an army to help them break out it failed and left them in Stalingrad.....
What options does Biden have now other than groveling, paying ransom or looking 100x worse than Jimmy Carter.

Even this morning, the Biden administration estimated it would take weeks, if not months, to evacuate all of the Americans, Afghans and even our own troops left in the country.
Who ARE these incompetents who are so naive they think they are still in control? Anybody listening to Biden and watching what was happening, knew this whole situation was a disaster and would fall into mass chaos rapidly.
The Taliban don't care about our self-interests. Their agenda is to kill as many Afghans and Americans who opposed them for 20 years. They don't concern themselves with optics or niceties. They are ruthless barbarians.
We were phuqued as soon as Biden took charge. He screwed this whole withdrawal up from the beginning. Words do not begin to describe how bad this is going get.

From what I understand, that code demands that they respect visitors, and not harm them. But no such protection is offered to foes who are fleeing or have surrendered.
An example of that is what happened after the British evacuated Kabul in 1842. The Afghanis promised the British safe passage. And they also promised to look after the wounded Britishers who had to be left behind.
As soon as the British left the Afghanis killed all the wounded soldiers. And they attacked the retreating British column. Only one single British soldier made it back to friendly lines.
