Flight attendants have once again resorted to duct tape to restrain an unruly passenger — this time tying down a 13-year-old boy on an American Airlines flight as another family member punched a window, according to the airline.
The teen threw a tantrum and fought with his mother aboard an American Airlines flight from Maui to Los Angeles on Tuesday, CBS Los Angeles reported.
The boy acted up on the Airbus A321 about an hour into the flight, which took off at 12:44 p.m., according to the outlet and flight-tracking sites.
Video posted by the station shows masked passengers helping the crew restrain the wild adolescent. One flight attendant is seen scurrying up the aisle with a roll of gray duct tape.

Can I now request a duct-tape seat so that I may rant and vent for the entire flight; with or without a mask?
Sounds kinda patriotic if I can go that route.
You’re blaming the flight attendants? I’m going to presume you’re joking
Can you drive to Maui?.............................
If this kid was truly out of control and they restrained him, why is the incident the fault of “power hungry” flight attendants? If they responded to a threatening individual, didn’t they do the right thing? Maybe there are other facts we aren’t aware of.
I think the duct-taping was the mildest solution available for a 13-year old boy (could have been man-size) trying to kick out a window. This was not just a mild teen arguing with his mother. If the pilot thinks it is important enough to divert the flight, I will trust the pilot’s judgement.
OMG, I was joking about the power hungry flight attendants!
I didn’t need to look..........................
You have to watch carefully to determine that the kid is black.
Flying right now is a nightmare. Airlines got their bailout money so they don’t care. Shareholders are at least taken care of.
Flights cancelled. You just have to deal with it. Not their problem.
Also, fuel shortages at a lot of airports is making it a challenge. Some aren’t getting the deliveries when needed because the trucking shortage.
My question is, how do these people scrape together the money to buy tickets?
Any bets on the mother of this teen suing the airline? She can’t retain her own kid but will sure because the airline and other passengers had to. Also the article mentions another family tried to punch a window out, who was this the mother?
Isn’t socialism wonderful?
“My question is, how do these people scrape together the money to buy tickets?”
This is how old I am....back when I was a kid men wore suit and ties and women wore nice dresses on flights as a rule.....times sure have changed.
SMH
It’s easier to build you a bridge than to have you understand women </Genie>
from Maui to La Good luck with that one
Any bets on the mother of this teen suing the airline — and WINNING?
The first time I flew, I was about 10 and my mother took me to the department store to get a dress for the flight.
So, yah, I know what you mean.
Still doesnt answer how these cretin can even afford plane tickets. I was thinking this years ago, the last time i was on a plane or in an airport, and it was way better back then even.
