CNN anchor Jim Acosta said Thursday on “The Situation Room” that former President Donald Trump claiming the January 6 riot at the U.S. Capitol was “a loving crowd” was “delusional.”
Discussing January 6 during an interview for the book “I Alone Can Fix It,” Trump said, “There was a lot of love. I’ve heard that from everybody. Many people told me that was a loving crowd.”

When it comes to the news these days, it’s all narratives, from all corners.
The cliche that when someone is talking they are either trying to sell you on a product, a service, or an idea has never been more true.
It used to be that you could take an issue or concern, do some research on it fairly quickly and find someone who seemed to be telling the truth, objectively, without a spin of self interest.
I find that very hard to do now.
So you have to fall back on principles, ideals, concepts you hold dear, like the rule of law, freedom of expression, the reality of objective truth, etc.
But you have to do that on your own, because I don’t see any institution out there abiding primarily by a set of principles. Can you find one?
It’s all narratives, rationalizations and the politicization of things down to the most mundane aspects of life in the furtherance of power and wealth.
It seems like as a civilization we’ve forgotten the most important things we learned.

Gaslighting is, by definition, a con. Con as in confidence man. To be a confidence man you must first establish credibility. CNN and acosta have none, and if they ever had any credibility, it is fast on the wane.
