THE Taliban have seized control of a THIRD of Afghanistan as they continue to accelerate their blitz offensive while the US continues to withdraw their forces.
The US has wasted nearly $1trillion on the "pointless" 20-year battle trying to stave off the terror group who are fighting to gain ultimate control over the war-torn country.
The Taliban have been on tenterhooks to forge ahead with their scheme since President Joe Biden announced the withdrawal of troops back in April and have since continued at "lightning speed".
Jihadist forces have now advanced across rural areas, putting them in reaching distance of major cities such as Herat and Kabul.
A recent US intelligence report warned they could take the capital, Kabul, within six months.

Vietnam and Korea were never really about Vietnam or Korea. They were proxy wars with the US vs the Soviets and the Chinese. South Korea did not want to be communist and had the will to keep it from happening. Also they had the good fortune to now have the war conducted by that corrupt moron LBJ.
Also, Vietnam was surrendered after the fact by the commies in congress, although Nixon wasn’t much better.
But ever since WW2 our government has been highly compromised by communists. We won’t be able to win another war as long as they have any influence on policy.
Afghanistan is not part of the middle east. It’s south Asia
It’s not a graveyard of empires. It has been conquered and ruled by many empires over the millennia including the Achaemenid, Mauryan, Macedonian, Seleucid, Indo-Greek, Kushan, the Sassanids, the Rashidun Caliohate, the Ummayyads, the Abbassids, Ghaznavids, Ghorids, Mughal empire, and the Durrani empire.
It was given the moniker of graveyard of empires by the brits as it was a buffer state between the British India empire and the Russian empire.
The problem is that Bush didn’t complete the job in 2002. He foolishly went into gulf war two.
If, instead he had invaded pakistan in 200w then
1. Taliban destroyed, no stragglers hiding in Pakistan to return.
2. No Pakistani trained terrorists.
3. No islamic state.
4. No genocide of Christianity in iraq and Syria.
5. Trillions saved.
He could have even outsourced governance to India.
So we would have spent years trying to subdue Pakistan, rather than Afghanistan?
The US destroyed Germany, Japan and Italy within four years. After WW2, the National War College was established. We have not won a war since. I speculate that they don’t teach the officers to win a war but to drag it out for profit.
And about 5 years earlier, for that matter. We dismantled al Qaeda in a matter of months, and could easily have prevented 9/11 had we done it when so many of us were begging to do it in the ‘90s. Instead, it was too much, too late.

You cannot take a society that is stuck in the 16th century and move them to the early 3rd millennium, you can, but it would take massive genocide to do so, and would that be worth it? We need to get the hell out of the nation building business now, no more of it.
No. Invade Pakistan in 2003, kill bin laden, crush the Taliban who were hiding out in the Pakistani North west frontier province, eliminate Pakistani nuclear weapons, then hand over NWFP to Afghanistan as those are Oashtuns, hand over Pakistani occupied Kashmir to india with the condition that India is to police Pakistan.

Seriously, are you trying to say that the US should have ignored the fact that it was the Taliban who aided Al-Qaeda in their attacks against the US? Should the US have just “absorbed” the attacks?
I agree that there is no point in being the Afghani police force for decades. The Taliban and those who supported it should have been destroyed and then the US forces should have left. No nation building.
I think if we really put our mind to it...we could make one of them an endangered species....../s
