More years ago than I care to remember, I was a college intern working on Capitol Hill. As part of our experience, various members of Congress came to speak to us. One of them as I recall was Strom Thurmond, at that time the Democratic senator from South Carolina, and a strong segregationist. He was pushing his plan to propagandize the military in something he called “Americanism.” Most of the interns in my class were well-socialized kids from northeast colleges like Yale and Mount Holyoke and such and they listened politely without objection. I wasn’t. I said I could understand how you could propagandize Soviet troops in Marxism, but except for basic civics lessons, there was such a broad range of views on what were the appropriate policies to follow, it seemed to me that what he was really promoting was a plan to convert the military to his own political views. He was angered by the dissent and said he thought there probably were far left people in that very room, glaring at me when he said it. In any event his plan failed. (The next near brush I had with him was when we moved into a cooperative apartment building where both he and Hubert Humphrey were also owners. The first day we moved in I was taken aside by the older women residents. ”Never get into an elevator with Strom, they warned.”)
At the moment, under claims of diversity and using the preposterous Critical Race Theory, this administration is trying to propagandize the military, and it is clear the plan is to demonize Donald J. Trump, Republicans, and white people. And while it looks momentarily like they are succeeding in this plan, there is every evidence that Americans will not put up with this much longer.

CRT is a form of Marxism. The capitalists are White people and everybody else who is Woke are the proletariat.
They are brainwashing your kids, instilling hatred, lies and distortions. This is the Marxist playbook, Lenin’s father was a school administrator and the Ulyanov (real name) family was the richest in town. But Lenin was full of what he viewed as “righteous hate” and sadly, that carries a long way.
Strom became a Republican in 1948 so this has to be a very long time ago...more than 70 years...
How much longer ???
The American people have put up with the racism against white people in the military for at least 50 years...
September 16, 1964 was the day Sen. Thurmond switched to the GOP.
Yes I thought of that later...I think 1948 was when he was first elected as a D....
I used to know quite a bit about him...I lived in SC....

The way the Defense Department top brass have sucked up to CRT makes it clearer as to why the U.S. hasn’t won any “wars” they have fought since WWII.

“CRT is a form of Marxism.”
Exactly. But the demons from Hell in the US have cloaked the Marxism with a veneer of “race” to make it immune from criticism. Argue against the CRT/BLM Marxism? Then you are a RACIST and and any and all criticism becomes indefensible and discussion must stop immediately.
But, you see, the Law was passed by those dirty, rotten Republicans and they screwed up our Nirvana.. we can break it because we can. (It is sickening…)
He was always a Dem before 1964. The 1948 Presidential race was as a States Rights Democrat (but still a Dem). He first held office as long ago as 1929(!) as Edgefield County Superintendent of Education and then elected to the legislature in 1932, Governor in 1946 and U.S. Senator (as a write-in) in 1954. He did endorse Eisenhower in 1952 for President over Stevenson, an indication of a future switch. Even in 1964, it was a bold move on his part to switch, because he could’ve easily lost reelection given that there was virtually no party apparatus at the time to help him.
PERUSE LATER!
Have there been any socialist leaders who were born into poverty?
