Republican Senator Lisa Murkowski has torn into her colleagues who say they want to oppose the Capitol riot commission during a chaotic night in the chamber.
'We just can't pretend that nothing bad happened, or that people just got too excitable. Something bad happened. And it's important to lay that out,' Murkowski told reporters after a vote on the proposed commission was delayed on Thursday night after the Senate grinded to a halt.
Overnight chaos in the Senate prevented the bill establishing a 9/11-style commission to investigate the January 6 Capitol attack from getting a vote to block a Republican-led filibuster.

Nobody is pretending nothing happened. We’re just better than her about weighing significance. No buildings burned. The people were not armed and attacked nobody. They actually WERE mostly peaceful. Much, MUCH smaller crowds in Portland and other cities did serious damage. Why are we pretending nothing happened there?
Allowing the other 6 investigations to proceed is NOT "pretending nothing happened".

That photo of Murkowski being cornered by DiFi during the Kavanaugh hearings showed all one needed to know about Murkowski. It looked like a party whip bringing a recalcitrant member into line.

What is the reason to expend so much money and resources to hunt down people who committed, at worst, a misdemeanor? Is this really what the FBI is for?
Nobody’s pretending “nothing happened,” but people are pretending that it was an “insurrection” and the worst day in our country since the Civil War. The proposed commission is based on that lunacy.
AK ditch the bitch. Why not call a commision on CHOP or the still on-going riots in Portland? At least make the claim, over and over again, that these real riots are done my the militant wing of the Democrat Party.
