France has banned schools from using 'gender neutral' spellings, saying they are a threat to the French language.
The country's education ministry issued the ruling last week after a push to include full stops in the middle of written words - dubbed 'midpoints' - which allow both male and female forms to be represented simultaneously.
But the Academie Francaise, which is responsible for guarding the French language, said the move is 'harmful to the practice and understanding of [French.]'

I think they’re afraid the Muslims will get pissed and start bombing the schools
I’m not too hot on the French with their language, but if that’s what it takes to find somewhere, anywhere, in the West willing to stand up to these Fascists, so be it.
“ I think they’re afraid the Muslims will get pissed and start bombing the schools.”

Au contraire. Whatever else you may think of the French, they do take their language very seriously.
But the Muslims aren’t sweet little things... When they get pissed, they do get violent and you never know what sets them off..
Tres bien!
French is a beautiful language, and France is an extraordinarily beautiful country. Glad they are standing up to the idiocy and lunacy that so many other countries are accepting.

I have enough trouble with français as it is.
It’s so incredibly stupid.
And none of the Romance language speakers want any part of it. Look at Spanish speakers in the US and the hostility to Latinx.
Is it like Spanish where all nouns are gendered?
For those who don’t speak British English, “full stops” are what we call periods.
French nouns are either masculine or feminine. I haven't studied French, but I understand that it has no neuter gender for nouns, making it easier to learn. Other languages such as German and Russian have a neuter gender.
In German, about a third of the nouns are neuter. The gender of nouns, which is not always indicated by their spelling, is one of the biggest obstacles to learning the language. But in Russian, the gender of most nouns is indicated by how they are spelled.
The entire French language is gender-based. Languages like French and Latin are where the term “gender” is properly used. Outside of that (and also some electrical jargon [e.g. male RCA plug]) the use of the term gender is a jocularity or a blunder (cf. “Fowler’s Modern English Usage”)
Latinx is stupid. Anyone who took Spanish 101 knows that is offending the Hispanic Community. What’s wrong with calling them Latinas or Latinos? That’s their language. If we want to **ck up our own language, that’s fine. But leave theirs alone.
It’s good to see someone who gets it.
The French get somethings correct, like being French.
So if someone were to be politically correct in woke Spanish, would someone say “el latinx” or “la latinx”?
Comment aller france!
Yes.
The woke are determined to make anything they can as ugly as possible.
On the plus side, we found something that the modern French are willing to fight for.
Aux armes!
