Is Coke rethinking woke? Soft drink giant puts 'pause' on diversity plan requiring outside law firms 'meet racial quotas or have their legal fees reduced'

Coca-Cola appears to be putting a ‘pause’ on its plan to transition to ‘woke-a-Cola.’

The soft drink giant announced last week that it was suspending its ‘diversity initiative’ after the firm replaced its top lawyer after just eight months on the job.

Bradley Gayton abruptly resigned last week as the company’s general counsel just months after he introduced ‘aggressive’ diversity initiatives that included requiring the firm’s outside lawyers to meet diversity quotas.

Woke capitalism is so asinine. Conservatives drink sodas too. They probably even drink more sodas than liberals who are all hot and bothered about the health effects of sugary drinks (while they ignore the negative externalities of their own favorite vices like cannabis).

But it's still "full speed ahead" with my boycott plan - which requires that companies I patronize NOT have "diversity plans" in effect, NOT force employees to participate in "shaming sessions," NOT criticize voter-integrity laws, NOT support BLM, etc.

Regards,

It just seems like if you produce product-X...your concern is to ensure people consume product-X and don’t imagine your company as a political or religious ‘device’.

It’s almost like people having this image of a cult now existing and expecting their consumers to fall into the cult.

I bought my first Pepsi Cola in a store a couple weeks back. Not because I like Pepsi, or because I drink much soda-pop, but just to let Coca Cola know that I tried being less White, and it is just going to be way easier for me to switch my brand of Cola.

Ditto! I laughed grocery shopping the last 2 weeks. Coca Cola is on sale everywhere. They think they can bribe us. Rock bottom prices. Every time I walked past the stashes, I just became angrier. They had different spaces of it every other aisle. I kept seeing that polar bear commercial. I guess I’m just too white. Nope. #GetWokeGoBroke

The mentality of the corporate executive who thinks it might be a great idea to associate the brand with wokeness in some ways is analogous to World War II when consumer brands like Camel cigarettes wrapped themselves in the American flag and depicting servicemen in uniform in their print advertising. The idea was to associate the Camel brand with the war effort with which most Americans were on board. The woke capitalist of 2021 makes a mistake, though, in thinking that the population is as uniformly on board with the left’s systemic racism narratives as the public was with the war effort in the 1940s. Many of these executives live in an elitist bubble, though, and have little exposure to people who reject the conventional wisdom of the liberal elite.

But is Woke-A Cola still fine with dead people and invaders voting?

Still boycotting.

Coke and then Coke Zero after I switched to diet have been my favored soft drinks my entire life. The company’s vile woke-ism has cause me to switch to diet Sam’s Cola and Safeway’s store brand diet colas. After drinking those a while, I’d say I even prefer Sam’s and like the Safeway products as much as Coke. Didn’t like the Kroger store brand cola as much.

Pretty sure Coke has lost me as a customer forever.

Pepsi is also woke and anti-American.

There’s more than just the one incident, too.

Dear Coke A Cola.

Let me make this very simple for you. I have mixed fine Kentucky Bourbon with Coke for 45 years. Today on my counter is a bottle of fine Kentucky bourbon and and Pepsi. If Pepsi goes woke I shall then just mix it with water.

To be fair, creating a cult worked well for GM, Ford and Chrysler for the longest time. We still have some of those cult members here that can’t admit their cult ever produced horrible product. :P

Just shut up and keep out of politics. Starbucks seems to have learned that lesson. When was the last time you heard them talking about political issues?

Stop hiring "diversity" czars. Coke paid millions to make that guy go away.

Coke thought they were championing "diversity". The truth is they were being scammed.

See my post above yours. Pepsi has been woke for years.

Fear not, though - RC Cola still exists, Shasta still exists, is relatively easily obtained, is cheaper, and you won’t have to mix your bourbon with mere water. :P

Too late. This 45 year avid coke drinker has had his last one.

Since quitting Woca Cola for good, I’ve discovered a couple different kinds of flavored water and a sugar free lemonade I like. I haven’t missed soft drinks.

This woke capitalist is trying to rectify its huge blunder, thinking Americans were on-board with the left’s "systemic racism" agit /prop .......

The black know-nothing Cokeman who made the blunder has already been reassigned.

Yet, top Cokers need to feel the pain and take the blame for their unthinking knee-jerk reaction to wokeism.

Can’t go back now that you’ve already picked political sides, that’ll throw away what’s left of your customer base.
