The editor-in-chief of the Babylon Bee had some harsh words for late-night comedians who he says have become unfunny 'self-righteous zealots' in thrall to a 'leftist religion'.
'Over the last decade, late-night hosts across the board began to lay aside their relatable, everyman's brand of comedy and pivot toward lecturing the crowd on their moral values,' wrote editor Kyle Mann in a scathing column for the National Review.
'They went from chasing laughter — no matter who the butt of the joke may have been — to chasing applause. The result has been anything but funny,' he added.

The most reliable joke on TV today is simply: “Republicans are stupid”. That one gets the audience rolling in the aisles every time. So funny!
Keeping quiet would’ve been a smarter approach.

I stopped watching years ago when Jay Leno did night after night jokes about Sen. Larry Craig (Republican, of course).

Silver lining is ABC, CBS and NBC will be consigned to the dustbin of dinosaur media history in a few more years and then Colbert, Kimmel and the other Fascists become tiles on Netflix or HBO Max - never to carry the same cultural clout.

It’s easy taking cheap shots at people who can’t/won’t reply…like beating your 80 year-old granny at ice hockey!! Devising ‘humor’ that’s original and based on intellect… now that’s a different thing altogether.
Right, I said intellect. I am convinced that stupid people are never funny and invariably prefer slapstick to humor that requires a little intelligence. For that the audience needs to show up with something more than the price of a ticket!!
He's genuinely funny, irreverent, and mostly nuts.

This isn’t new. Letterman aka Bitterman was as politically biased and unfunny as any of the current hosts as far back as 08 at least.
Conan O’Brian and Jay Leno would make fun of Democrats about as much as Republicans. They were no coincidentally, the last of the late night hosts who were actually funny or entertaining.
The problem with Gutfeld is that he’s on Fox which I don’t watch......
Agree and he writes his own lines unlike the dull witted so called late-night comedians.
He has some very funny stuff he turns the loons statements into jokes that fit.
Why is that?
