Minnesota state representative Jeremy Munson (R-Crystal Lake) introduced a bill, HF2243, Thursday that would allow Minnesota counties to secede from the state and join South Dakota.
The legislation would start the process to allow Minnesota counties to join a neighboring state. Under the bill, a Minnesota county would be able to apply to U.S. Congress to amend the state’s boundaries.
“State lines have been relocated many times in American history because it just takes an interstate compact between two state legislatures and the approval of Congress,” Munson said on his website.

True. Ha.
No point in joining Nevada, just another California in a lot of ways.
What if the county doesn’t border South Dakota? If these changes don’t affect electoral votes, it essentially puts more power in the hands of liberals.
My reasoning is Nevada and California are not going to elect conservative senators but Nevada might with additional counties from rural California and Southern Oregon.
“Secession? That’s ridiculous! I’ll bet that not a single county in any American state will try and do this.”
My friend was right, there are now more than ten counties planning Secession, and counting.
Now do Illinois.
but if the blue still cheats it’s way to “winning” voting....I don’t see where it’s much help, other than the people will belong to a new state that may be better on a state level for them?
It’s basically the problem now. Small specs of blue with “enhanced” vote totals that thwart the will of the rest of the state.
But in the case at hand, no [new] State would be formed, so the proposed transfer would not even require an invocation of Art. IV.
Regards,
Some of these “freedom” states have their problems too. One town in Idaho threw church people in jail for not wearing masks OUTSIDE!
Nothing personal to all you Minnesotans but as a resident of South Dakota, and speaking just for myself, we really don’t want you and all your nanny state values.
No way will congress agree to this.
They’ll lose their ability to pack the House. The Mir densely populated cities will soon be balanced out by everything else.
And hopefully, if the new states play by the same rules, they’ll starve(literally) and let them rot. Put a wall up and let them Eat themselves.
No longer needed.
The Governor and many in the Texas Senate and House have switched on to nullification.
Greg Abbott will block anti-2nd DC gun grabbing with it and then the cat is out of the bag.
.
—that would help to balance out Clark County (Las Vegas) which is the only one that counts—the rest of the state may as well not vote-the Reid machine does what it pleases—
Moorhead, Minn., is just over the state line from Fargo, ND, and East Grand Forks, MN, is just over the state line from Grand Forks, ND. Perhaps those two cities with their counties might find it desirable to become part of North Dakota.
I trust this happens.
Don’t know...just drove through on the way west.
Yeah that will work about as well as Orval Faubus enforcing segregation in Arkansas back in the 50s...
bump
What would be better would be if these areas formed new states. Give us more Republican senators.
