Gee, Jemele, thanks for the enlightenment. (Did you actually get PAID for this or was it some form of reparations? Asking for a friend . . .)

Best to engage in Sport on a personal basis, NOT sitting on one’s butt.

Of course she completly ignored the woke nature of todays sports.

Probably would have watched sports but they did not want to play.

They wanted to preach.

I go to church for that and what my pastor has to say is a lot more relevant and reality based.

So pro sports with their over paid sissy boys and continual dipping into public money can just eat dirt and die screaming in the gutter were it belongs.

One sport that has been booming during the pandemic is the Pro Golf Tour. I never watched baseball or football except for playoffs but golf just seems to be interesting in every tournament. I think what attracts me is that it is individualistic and about personal mastery rather than simulated warfare between competing tribes. The payoffs are set up to reward the truly best players based on performance each week and not on some future contract.

Also, the players are just really nice mellow people who still understand sportsmanship and respect the game which isn’t always the case with contact sports. Here’s evidence for my assertion.

Without professional sports, who will remind football fans that they are despicable racist bigots?

I stopped watching a lot of sports due to the all the woke crap. You couldn’t escape it. Even if some teams didn’t kneel, the announcers would always blab about racism, and there were woke ads during the games. I pretty much gave up and haven’t missed it as much as I thought I would.

Hopefully it will be very difficult to justify using taxpayer money to finance huge expensive stadiums in the future, especially when the next wave of government sponsored shutdowns comes along.

And the 51% decrease cited in the article is actual decrease; who would have predicted a decrease in viewers, since everybody is getting tired of watching reruns? The viewing in the last year should have been 20% higher, just to see something new and live.

Actually you are wrong bucko! America needs sports but not in its current form. The way it used to be before it was hijacked by some thug who thought he was better than he actually was. He kneeled not to honor or pray for his country but for his submission to the Marxist ideology that has come to forefront of our daily lives. He checked out of this country so people checked him out of foosball!

There are Republican voters who think they need sports to enjoy their leisure, unaware that they are enabling their oppressors and the dumbing-down of blacks.

I apologize in advance if this post gets too verbose.

There is a story that would be national news if the team was named Duke, Kentucky, or any of the other blue bloods. Instead, the team from a small Jesuit university in Spokane, Washington is undefeated (24-0) heading into the post season.

This team plays the most unselfish brand of basketball we have seen in a long time. The Zags currently lead the nation in scoring (93 ppg) and shooting (55%), and are second or third in assists per game. They don't live or die by the 3 pointer, as they rank around 80th in the nation in 3 point attempts.

They also excel in the classroom, earning max scores on the APR rankings almost every year. Joel Ayayi, a junior from France, graduated last December with a bachelors degree in Sports Management. Grad transfer Aaron Cook earned a 4.0 last semester, making the President's List. Corey Kispert is vying to achieve the elusive double, First Team All American and First Team Academic All American. Of the last six players to accomplish that feat, 3 are from Gonzaga: Dan Dickau, Kelly Olynyk, and Nigel Williams-Goss.

According to ESPN, the Zags are the first team in Division I men's college basketball history to beat four AP top-20 teams in its first seven games of the season: Kansas, West Virginia, Iowa, and Virginia. Yet detractors will point out that Gonzaga plays in a mid-major conference, not an unfair comparison.

We attended the game against Virginia, held in Fort Worth the day after Christmas. The Zags scored 98 points against the defending National Champion, the highest scored against Virginia in 15 years or so.

Gonzaga has also appeared in the last 5 Sweet Sixteens, best in the nation. Our only knock is the absence of a National Championship. Obviously, I like our chances.

Sure, I'm biased, but the Zags represent the best of college basketball.

I think the events of late have taught me a lesson about sports.

I would say that - although maybe most of us didn’t fully know it or realize it at the time - when sports were fun a huge part of what made them fun was it was a way for many people could come together, celebrate, have fun, unwind, etc.

As soon as sports became a way to drive people apart due to perceived differences and BS arguments they lost all their appeal. At least they did for me.

Basically the left ruins everything it touches. Sports being a very telling example.
