As the pandemic dragged on, the leagues, universities, pro franchises, and other entities that profit from a multibillion-dollar sports economy made a push for games to return. But these efforts also reflected a working assumption that the mere presence of sports would provide comfort, and perhaps a welcome distraction, for people who wanted to escape the horrors of the pandemic, at least momentarily.

I think NBA will suffer the most. LA Lakers and New York Knicks will do fine. But what about Indiana Pacers? Utah Jazz? A lot of white fans who are all of sudden u unwelcome in the league now.

One sport that has been booming during the pandemic is the Pro Golf Tour. I never watched baseball or football except for playoffs but golf just seems to be interesting in every tournament. I think what attracts me is that it is individualistic and about personal mastery rather than simulated warfare between competing tribes. The payoffs are set up to reward the truly best players based on performance each week and not on some future contract.
Also, the players are just really nice mellow people who still understand sportsmanship and respect the game which isn’t always the case with contact sports. Here’s evidence for my assertion.
