Voting company sues Fox and Trump lawyers for $2.7bn over false claims of election fraud

A voting technology company is suing Fox News, three of its top hosts and two former lawyers for Donald Trump – Rudy Giuliani and Sidney Powell – for $2.7bn.

The lawsuit charges that the defendants conspired to spread false claims that the company helped “steal” the US presidential election, which was in fact fairly won by Joe Biden.

The 285-page complaint filed on Thursday in New York state court by Florida-based Smartmatic USA is one of the largest libel suits ever undertaken. Dominion Voting Systems sues Giuliani for $1.3bn over baseless election claims Read more

On 25 January, a rival election-technology company, Dominion Voting Systems, which was also ensnared in Trump’s baseless effort to overturn the election, sued Guiliani and Powell for $1.3bn.

Unlike Dominion, whose technology was used in 24 states, Smartmatic’s participation in the 2020 election was restricted to Los Angeles county, which votes heavily Democratic.

Smartmatic’s limited role notwithstanding, Fox aired at least 13 reports falsely stating or implying the company had stolen the 2020 vote in cahoots with Venezuela’s socialist government, according to the complaint.

This alleged “disinformation campaign” continued even after the then attorney general, William Barr, said the Department of Justice could find no evidence of widespread voter fraud.

Bait swallouthwed while still in the tackle box. Truth is an absolute defense. Department of Justice could find nothing unless it investigated, and did not investigate.

Funny how insecure leftards are. They have to remind us in every paragraph that this is a "baseless" claim, or a "false" claim. Can't trust us to think for ourselves.

Please! Free us from freedom! Direct us what to think, o great 4th estate. Where is a truth czar when you need one. I'm so confused!/s

I don’t trust any of the shyster lawyers who said they had “proof”

I saw the proof in six states. The legislatures did meet and give them a fair hearing with testimony and evidence, and we got an eyeful and an earful on You Tube. Probably no longer up, but we know what we saw. I don’t trust the crooked judges who did everything in their power to avoid being presented the evidence, including SCOTUS Chief Justice Brave Sir Roberts.

Discovery is a beautiful thing!

Bring it.

This just may be the match to ensure fair and free elections going forward...

Given there are around 1500 affidavits from people either witnessing irregularities or outright fraud, isn’t it possible to add a disclaimer to that effect when posting articles which use such gaslighting terms as “baseless claims of election fraud.”

I’m not playing Posting Police here, but that terminology just gets on my nerves like you wouldn’t believe!

Carry on, and may your day be merry.

OK, you already included a disclaimer. My apologies. I will now get more coffee. :-)

What we need are laws requiring voting machine to have 10% open source software. Better yet, laws requiring paper ballots. Machine counting is fine, but the ultimate authority must be human readable.

Did they say they had proof, or that they could prove it? There is a big difference.

What I remember them saying repeatedly was that the publicly reported election results exhibited statistical anomalies - raising huge red flags. That this was probable cause for further investigation.

What I remember them saying was that the very limited access they had to the machines, software and other evidence only reinforced their doubts.

What I remember them saying was IF they were given full access to the machines, software and other forensic evidence, they could prove one way or another.

Why were they blocked from getting that access at every turn?

It was extremely disappointing, wasn’t it?

It is not a false claim. There is enough evidence that makes any intelligent person question.

The machines are a political figure or issue. Under our Constitution, as interpreted by the Supreme Court in NY Times vs. Sullivan, you can’t be sued merely for being wrong on a political issue; it’s protected free speech.

Smartmatic posted a copy of their complaint

https://www.smartmatic.com/uploads/Smartmatic_Complaint_Against_Fox_Corporation.pdf

They claim their software was only used in one single county in the 2020 election.

I suspect they’ve found a judge that’ll block discovery.🤔

The lawsuits are down so we cannot say out loud the evidence about the fraud.

It is not a false claim. There is enough evidence that makes any intelligent person question.

This isn't Dominion; this suit is by Smartmatic. Smartmatic alleges in their complaint that their machines were used in only one county in the entire U.S. in the 2020 election. If that allegation is correct, any claim that Smartmatic stole the election is impossible.

“You remember it correctly.”

Thank you!!

The Leftist gaslighting surrounding all things Trump has reached a point where half the FReepers are even buying into it.

It’s good to be reassured once in a while that I’m not going crazy.

Even the most crooked judge who ever drew breath cannot block discovery. It’s an absolute right. All they can do is fudge the close questions.
