Why do signature checks always move the electorate further to the GOP?
Three months after the November general election one congressional seat in New York has still not been certified after the state supreme court justice Scott DelConte ruled that dozens of votes were invalid.
Some of the biggest batches the court invalidated:
128 ballots from voters who voted in the right election district but wrong polling place, in addition to 20 ballots cast in the wrong county.
85 ballots from voters who were listed in the state voter database as “purged.”
51 ballots from voters who dropped their absentee ballots in a ballot drop box outside of their election district, ballots that were later sent to the correct polling place after a state deadline.
This ruling all guarantees that Republican Claudia Tenney will win the seat in the House of Representatives for the 22nd district, the only undecided Congressional race in the country yet to be called.
This is also a great example of why democrats and judges have refused to allow signature checks and other election audits. The democrat had originally ‘won’ the seat by a messily 20-50 votes prior to Republicans submitting more than a 1000 instances of fraud to the court.
This adds another flipped democrat to republican house seat to the GOP, making the new 117th Congress membership break down by party:
Democrats: 222
Republicans: 213
That assumes that the House actually seat the winner.
What’s the final tally on the House in 2020?
Wonder how many others might have been stolen from Republicans in the House?
The Red Sea just got parted.
Tenney was the rightful winner and I am shocked that it was allowed to stand.
WHAAT?
A couple of things.
1. This judge is a Democrat. Weird huh. Kinda makes the blog sound really stupid.
2. The outcome had less to do with signature checks than it did with the judge ordering more than 1000 ballots to be canvassed in a Republican county. These ballots had been disqualified due to a screw up at the DMV. The Democrat argued that only about 69 of these ballots (almost all from Democrats) should count. The judge said, “nope” count them all.
A token to show how ‘fair’ the 2020 election was.
Just did some research and it appears that I’m wrong.A House member can be expelled but that’s it. I must have misheard or misunderstood something I had once heard or read.
Oh ok..got confused there
Tenney actually won by 28,000 votes, among those cast on ELECTION DAY.
or something.
Claudia is a friend! I am happy this is finally over for her.
Correct.
When Can Congress Refuse to Seat a Duly-Elected Candidate?
The short answer is never.
Of course, that doesn't mean they won't try. The Constitution is for the little people.
Pray YHVH (God)! for this miracle.
Imagine if signature checks were allowed in Philadelphia, Atlanta, Detroit, Milwaukee, Las Vegas and Phoenix. Decent, rational people will never be convinced that Biden won the election.
Nostalgia, remember the days when it wouldn't cross one's mind which party a judge belonged to. We Americans once just assumed the law was above partisanship.
I can’t remember back that far :)
And anybody in power that does the right thing has no business being a democrat.
There’s at LEAST a closet independent in that person somewhere deep down
The old joke still holds: Republicans vote on Tuesday. Democrats vote on Wednesday.
