Oh, I sure hope not! But based on how Trump has chosen people to work with in the past, it would not fully surprise me. That would indeed be an unwise move.

Trump isn’t going to appear, just like he didn’t in the first impeachment trial. That’s not even on the table. But it would be massively stupid to just not have his lawyers show up. That would about guarantee the Senate would convict, spite for spite.

I like the way Giuliani presented the case before at least one State Legislature, but I’ve generally been very unhappy with Trump’s advisors. They have seemed weak and a bit cowardly. Generally I think lawyers ARE weak and cowardly.

The charge is “incitement of insurrection”. WHY, in the name of all that’s holy, would his lawyers’ defense be “the constitutionality of convicting a former president? That in no way addresses the article of impeachment!!! Lindsey Graham and his sleazy attorneys were trying to set him up.
Anyhow, both issues could be addressed if the attorneys are good.

Is Trump an ex president? I’m not so sure. He clearly won the election last November The very fact the Democrats openly moved millions of votes over to Biden, and the fact they held a sham inauguration really doesn’t matter. See tagline. President Trump is a legitimate president and the Congress knows it.
That’s why this impeachment is so important. They want to give an air of legality to the illegal deeds they have done.

Agree, President Trump should tell Congress to go fornicate themselves and refuse. He’d get way more support for that than appearing.
Ditto...Trump’s impeachment trial jury has already spoken. And greater than 2/3 of them have stated the sham is unconstitutional. He has put that behind him and is going as far as he can to fight election fraud in the big spotlight of the senate charade. IMO, it’s pure Trump.

The GOP is never going to convict and expose their TDS for every GOP voter to see. China Mitch punted the impeachment show trial because the GOP wants to use it in a fake show of support for Trump and put the GOP Senate’s certification of the stolen election in the rear view mirror.

We seem to have bunch of spineless people out there.
Dershowitz was suppose to be part of the team but then announced he wouldn’t be.
I think lawyers just don’t want to take this in the direction Trump wants to take it...and then there is the huge problem of losing clients for taking the case on.
