Biden’s Covid-19 Plan Is Maddeningly Obvious
The New York Times ^ | Jan. 18, 2021 | By Ezra Klein Opinion Columnist

It is infuriating that the Trump administration left so many of these things undone.

I wish I could tell you that the incoming Biden administration had a genius plan for combating Covid-19, thick with ideas no one else had thought of and strategies no one else had tried. But it doesn’t.

What it does have is the obvious plan for combating Covid-19, full of ideas many others have thought of and strategies it is appalling we haven’t yet tried. That it is possible for Joe Biden and his team to release a plan this straightforward is the most damning indictment of the Trump administration’s coronavirus response imaginable.

The Trump administration seemed to believe a vaccine would solve the coronavirus problem, freeing President Trump and his advisers of the pesky work of governance. But vaccines don’t save people; vaccinations do. And vaccinating more than 300 million people, at breakneck speed, is a challenge that only the federal government has the resources to meet. The Trump administration, in other words, had it backward. The development of the vaccines meant merely that the most logistically daunting phase of the crisis, in terms of the federal government’s role, could finally begin.

In the absence of a coordinated federal campaign, the job has fallen to overstretched, underresourced state and local governments, with predictably wan results. According to data from the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, of the roughly 31 million doses that have been sent out, about 12 million have been used.

Again...the NYT misses the point......

Vaccines are given to each state......

The states can then designate how to disburse......

Biden wants a federal disbursement.....

So the NYTimes Pravda says that Cuomo and DeBlasio failed because Trump didn’t save them?

Even Joe Biden’s strongest supporters surely know this dope hasn’t had an original idea in decades. If he wasn’t such a dimwitted @sshole he would have gotten bored with Washington before he reached the age of 40.

>>And vaccinating more than 300 million people,

300 million will not be getting the vaccine and do not need it for a virus that is 99% survivable.

All of the people who already got sick have to get it? Then did the tests include groups of people who’d had CV19 and then got placebo or the real shot and got deliberately exposed again? How many contracted it a second time?

Creating the vaccine is evidently the least important part of vaccinations.

Joe Biden has no “strong supporters.” He’s never polled above single digits in his life.

If they are incapable of doing the job, obstructionist in implementation, and redundant, eliminate all of them.

Let’s say you only vaccinated 150 or 200 million people, that’s 300 to 400 million doses if you use just the current to vaccines, add in the Johnson and Johnson vaccine once it’s approved and that cuts the number down significantly because it only takes one dose....

Regardless, manufacturing that many doses, get them all distributed and administered to that many people is a major task.....

Hmm, the NYT is located in which state? Oh that’s right, New York! Perhaps the NYT could run an article about how well New York has managed the Wuhan crisis and how well its vaccine distribution is going. Ah, but wait, that might direct criticism of Governor Cuomo and we can’t have that.

How about starting with mandatory vaccination popups along the border. There are millions who are coming here at risk of spreading the disease.

You can’t vaccinate people without a vaccine.

This writer is an idiot.

A vaccine that all the "experts" said would take years to develop took approx 6 months under President Trump's leadership and encouragement.

President Trump made sure there were more then enough ventilators. President Trump made the Javits Center and the Navy hospital ship possible for New York.Yet they both remained empty under Governor Nipple Ring's "leadership". Of course none of that will every appear in the NY Slimes.

Am I the only one who recalls the leftist media screaming that Trump did not have the authority under the constitution to take a leadership role and that this was a states rights responsibility? So he set about coordinating supplies and equipment acquisition for the states. Now they again want to blame him for not leading. Typical.

I expect FDA/CDC to come out with “new guidance” that will lower the throughput cycles of RT-PCR from what is a very 45 to something lower.

It will automatically mean fewer cases of Covid19 detected. Thanks Joe Biden!

When Obama was asked during his 2008 campaign why he'd raise taxes, if it would cause a fall in govt revenues (which would be used to help poor people), he responded he wasn't concerned - because, "It's punitive."

So "It's punitive" is being replaced by "it's an inherited mess," is it?
