How differently would white flight have unfolded absent the crime wave that began in the 1960s? According to the U.S. Bureau of Justice Statistics, the national homicide rate doubled between 1960 and 1980, from 5.1 murders per 100,000 Americans to 10.2, its highest level. Chicago, always a rough city, already had a homicide rate of 10.5 per 100,000 residents in 1960, but it exploded to 28.7 in 1980 and 30.7 in 1990.
The riots of the 1960s saw lawlessness engulf entire neighborhoods. Chicago’s most serious disturbance was in April 1968, after Martin Luther King’s murder. Some of the looting and National Guard deployments were near South Shore, Rotella recounts, but most of the mayhem was on the West Side. By the riots’ conclusion, nine people were dead, more than 300 injured, more than 2,000 arrested, and 260 stores and businesses destroyed. In its aftermath, white flight from Chicago accelerated. The city, which had been 85.9 percent white in 1950 and 76.4 percent in 1960, saw that proportion fall to 65.6 percent in 1970 and 49.6 percent in 1980. (The Census Bureau didn’t begin to identify “non-Hispanic whites” as a separate category until 1980, when that group accounted for 43.2 percent of Chicago’s population.) In 1988, an official in the city’s planning department calculated that nearly 500,000 people, mostly whites, departed the city in the first half of the 1970s.
We know that the sharp drop in crime that began in the early 1990s coincided with gentrification, evidence that many whites prefer high- to low-density living—if cities are safe. Some of the gentrifiers are the children or grandchildren of people who, with varying degrees of reluctance, moved out of neighborhoods like South Shore.

Those short sentences completely undoes all of the Mooche’s claims.

Coincided with the civil rights movement which morphed into Demonrats telling whole groups of people that they weren’t capable of making a living on their own.
Which they were perfectly capable of BEFORE 1960.
I’ve noticed they’ve begun intertwining two different narratives (race and nationality) to silence whites; anyone who has heard blacks talk about foreigners would realize there is hardly common ground - yet the left still tries.
Blacks under Trump have been able to see with their own eyes how foreigners consign blacks to high unemployment (as they do with every other American group); Dems are frantic to quash that discussion.

we bought our first house in Ft Wayne Ind..$10,000 for a 2 bedroom with basement and a very nice home.
we bought many blocks from the run down neighborhood.

I wanted to look at the new homes built further out.. but they were $30,000 plus.
you mentioned white flight..yes, it went on .when the real estate laws changed from “you sell your home to whom you want to”.. to “anyone can look and anyone can buy your home”.
that is why the new homes were more than twice the price.
now, here in Ga, a home will cost 200,000 to get something safe and comfortable.
everyone raised prices and it takes 2 incomes to have a home and car and etc.
the bottom dropped here 3+ yrs ago and our homes lost 100,000 overnight.
if biden gets in.. I’m selling.. they will drop again.
in my lifetime homes went from 10,000 to 500,000.. yes. and still today Atlanta grows north for miles.. oh there are black sports figures living in mansions.. it isn’t skin color.. its “do you keep your home in great shape”
if that is white flight.. it’s not losing the money put in a home.

you’re correct in most cases but it seems to me “classy” blacks always have a ratchet relative or 2 that comes over to make noise and just be ratchet.

That is what is becoming crystal clear in dying states like NJ and NY; they’ve chased out/destroyed opportunity for their “homesteader class” (not just whites), and now their parasite populations lack viable hosts. Here in NJ much of government is funded locally, and when you chase out those who are willing to commit to 30 years not just of mortgage payments, but the accompanying PROPERTY TAX payments, the model doesn’t work. Taxing employers forces them to leave, and there is little opportunity for young adults to start out here - so they move elsewhere. It became obvious when the ILLEGALS started to leave; those working “under the table” watched the discretionary dollars of their American clients disappear, and so they’re following the American workers to other states where the American workers can patronize businesses that use illegals as workers.
People freely left “ethnic” neighborhoods even where there was no influx of blacks. The GI Bill caused the first wave of flight as why would you be stuck in a two or three family old home when you could get a single family on the crabgrass frontier cheap with a low interest loan. In the case of my father’s neighborhood, his once German neighborhood became a Polish neighborhood when his grandparents moved in. As the Poles moved to suburbia, Portuguese immigrants came in. As the Portuguese moved out due to upward mobility, Brazilians and Ecuadorians moved in. This was ironically in a city that become majority black otherwise in the 1960s.

The truth is I left the city years ago, and now enjoy a life where these things have not happened to me again: stealing my bike off the porch. Stealing my lawn mower when I went in for a pee break and glass of water. Breaking into my house and stealing TV and getting car keys and taking that too. Getting chased by a bunch of kids yelling “get that white boy”. Someone trying to sucker punch me in the face as I walk by on sidewalk.
Huh? In what way did they leave "communities in shambles?"
Why did blacks moving in not improve or fix up said communities "left in shambles" by fleeing whites?
Why didn't they show us how much better things could and would be when blacks take over a community?
