Wall Street may move to Dallas

DALLAS – Officials from Nasdaq and other major stock exchanges will meet with Gov. Greg Abbott on Nov. 20 in Austin to discuss a possible move from New Jersey to Texas, nbcdfw.com and the Dallas Morning News reported.

The meeting comes on the heels of the exchanges threatening to move their trading platforms out of New Jersey, the report said.

Abbott and other Texas officials plan to boast the state’s business-friendly environment during the meeting.

“Texas continues to be the premier economic destination in the country, attracting more leading businesses than any other state,” spokeswoman Renae Eze said in a statement to The Dallas Morning News. “The governor looks forward to meeting with Nasdaq and showcasing Texas' business-friendly environment, skilled workforce, robust infrastructure, and low taxes, all of which foster greater economic growth in the Lone Star State.”

According to The Dallas Morning News, Abbott’s office has been talking with Nasdaq and other exchanges about moving their data centers to Dallas because of a potential tax on financial transactions in New Jersey.

The proposed tax would charge a quarter of a cent per “financial transaction” at entities in New Jersey that process at least 10,000 transactions annually via electronic infrastructure, the Dallas Morning News reported. That tax would generate an estimated $10 billion annually for the state.

This is no BS. Don’t hate me....but I still watch Varney on Fox Business in the morning. He, and Susan Li actually spoke of this this morning, and there’s a date set for the “big wheels” at the NYSE, NASDAQ, etc to head to Texas to discuss it.
As it stands now, if I understood things correctly, the server farms for the market are in New Jersey, and the state charges them something along the lines of a tenth of a cent per trade which obviously costs them millions per year, and creates millions per year of “disposable income” that gets wasted on lefty/Socialist policies.
IMHO...smart move if they do jump ship, and head to the lone star state.

It’s bad enough that Texas has been West Coasted. I don’t want all those East Coasters here.

I might have to find a new state to call hime

If so I want two things.

1. Locate in Cut & Shoot Texas. You have got to love that town's name!

2. We want the Wall Street Bull. Then I can have a photo taken of Texans 'Grabbing the Bull by the Horns'!

Now if we could cram more cabinet departments into a deep blue Illinois. Turn Va. red again. Perhaps congress should move each session to different cities like the NFL draft learned to do. Good for ratings. Bad for the lobbyists. Too much moving for them. Move SSI to underdeveloped Hilo, Hawaii. Who’d complain?

Swarms of northern locust voters came to Texas in the mid-late seventies, fleeing Carter malaise and exceptionally cold winters.

It's never been the same since. Texas was somewhat like the stereotype before *they* came. Now history repeats itself.

Why are they meeting in Austin if they’re thinking of moving to Dallas?

These Easterners could well set up shop in Frisco, Plano, or Grapevine, which would flip Denton, Collin, and Tarrant Counties blue. I don't want to hang my hat in Oklahoma, and Wyoming and the Dakotas are way too cold.

How do you think Jersey got to where it is today....New Yorkers moving out of the city to the Republican wilds of New Jersey and then turning those “wilds” into Democrat bastions while telling you how much better it is back in New York. They are like cancer, not really noticeable at first and then “boom” you’re fighting for your life. I grew up in a New Jersey that rarely elected Democrats to anything outside of the urban areas. Now between the NY’ers and the foreign transplants, Democrats are taking over everywhere. My county’s Freeholders have more Democrats on that board now than since 1864.

And the Blue WALL, instead of Blue Wave part of my post is the clever part you see.

Dallas was a the city mentioned so I used it as where the Blue Wall is coming.

Maybe Wall Street will go to Waxahachie instead...

Good point about moving the bureaucrats out and saving the State.

From an operational / DR perspective, Dallas is better than Houston (flooding) but worse than Austin (tornado).

That would be a bad idea. We don’t want so many anti-American, import regime enemies moving to Texas. Look what they’ve done to our system of government (elections).
