Fort Bragg Twitter administrator admits to sending explicit tweets (We were hacked)

An administrator of Fort Bragg’s Twitter account has admitted to sending sexually explicit tweets the military base originally blamed on a hack, a spokesperson said Thursday.

“This morning, at the initiation of an investigation into yesterday’s incident regarding inappropriate tweets on the Fort Bragg Twitter account, an administrator for the account identified himself as the source of the tweets," Col. Joe Buccino, a spokesperson for the XVIII Airborne Corps, said in a statement Thursday.

"Appropriate action is underway,” he added.

The incident happened Wednesday afternoon when the official Twitter account for the North Carolina Army base, one of the largest military installations in the country, replied in graphic detail to two tweets from a sex worker.

As the explicit tweets garnered attention, Fort Bragg tweeted that the messages were “not the work of our admins” and that “our account was hacked.”

Shortly after, Fort Bragg deactivated its account.

In Thursday’s statement, Buccino said the account “will be restored in the coming days.”

Ok I’ll bite. Why do out military installations need to be Tweeting?

Do you think that’s what Wray’s little dog-and-pony show was all about last night? Giving all of the whacko Democrats cover to say “I was hacked by Russia” whenever they get caught doing something?

Remember, originally in the Anthony Weiner scandal, he claimed to have been hacked? But then the truth came out, and Chuck Schumer’s protege and mini me was in deep doo doo.

Hacking seems to be the common excuse used in these sorts of situations.

Good question. When I worked for a defense contractor, we were highly discouraged from engaging on social media. Just one less risk to have to deal with.

While having security clearances required all sorts of sacrifices and adherence, avoiding social media ended up being a plus in the long run. To this day, I have never signed up for Twitter, Facebook, Instagram, MySpace, and the like.

Command information tool. Garrison leaders can publicize schedule changes, events, new services, road closures, etc...

The only one I have is Facebook, helps me keep tabs/contact with my former soldiers from my first command and deployment. On the down side, FB is how I found out a couple of them had committed suicide.

Probably for general announcements. But that would mean people would have to check regularly. I’m not sure. I do know that claiming something was hacked is stupid because somebody really good at finding out will know in 26 minutes

I see. They are OK with the public having access to all of that?

Fast notification to troops during any event.

“Base Closed” “Training Holiday” “Sale at PX” and “emergency”.

Bet that “sex worker” thought they had a goldmine on their hands if all of Fort Bragg was propositioning them...

Back in the old days we had a blizzard in the Fayetteville and Fort Bragg greater area.

Took me almost an hour to get in to work. Slowly the rest of the troops arrived. We sat around for about an hour and command called and said the base was closed and to go home.

Could have used twitter back then.

These people who claim their accounts were hacked never seem to understand what "hacked" means. Hint: it doesn't mean posting something you later regret.

Of course I guess that also means if you were being activated the Russians or ChiComs could hack the account and sent out a “base is closed, go home” message.

I just thought the military would want something more secure.

I suspect that depends. Things like:

2 for 1 ice cream at the dispensary Tuesday from 6-9PM
or

Spur 396 entrance reduced to two lanes for construction sat-mon

Don’t forget to sign up for the annual base sock-hop and apple bobbing competition!

are probably okay.

On the other hand, things like:
Notice - practice artillery range will be extra noisy Wednesday AM

For a good time call Jenny, 876-5309

Probably not so much.
:)

C'mon Pete, you felt like a bigger man because you made it while the other pussies were still stuck in the snow.

You beat on your chest though the whole first 6 pack.

Shame the devil:)
