He feels once the smaller counties report their numbers (their last update was 8/4), the registration advantage for the GOP will be just about the same as it was in 2016.
This would be a huge comeback from 2018.

I got 3 relatives in AZ registered.
I talked to them on the phone, asked who they support in the election. They said Trump.
I said, make sure to vote. They said, not registerd.
I went to Maricopa website, filled out 3 forms, mailed it to them. All they needed to do was sign and mail. They are in the AZ counts now.
3 more Trump votes a coming...

Not that familiar with AZ, how is McSalley’s questionable campaigning skills and the McCain family’s influence playing out in the state?

McSally needs to hammer home the fact that Kelly is anti-gun and so far, she’s not doing this! Her ads are more about her service in the military. Kelly is running non-stop ads.

Given these numbers, can someone explain why Trump and Biden are close in AZ?

Cindy McCain endorsed Biden. Nobody really gives a rats ass. Biden/Harris appeared together in Phoenix (Maricopa County) for the first time in their campaign. Nobody, and I mean nobody showed.
Trump just held a rally in Prescott (Yavapai County) and Tucson (Pima County). Huge turnouts. Had Governor Ducey and Senator McSally there also.
Trump will win Arizona, I'm optimistic he'll pull McSally across the finish line. A lot of people talking down-ballot here.

Trump will pull her over.

- Because the polls are weighted based on the previous election.
- Because many of the polls still use registered voters.
- Because those who haven't voted recently (e.g, they just registered) are never considered "likely voters."
- Because the pollsters use Republicans whose demographics make them the least likely to vote for Trump, and use Democrats whose demographics make them the most likely to vote for Biden.
- Because the pollsters universally ask to survey the youngest member of the household.
- Because the pollsters assume that minorities will vote D with the same probability distribution as they have for the past decades.
- Because so many R voters lie to pollsters about their political affinities, for a variety of different reasons.

I was at the Trump rally yesterday and spoke with more than one attendee who claimed to have registered as a Democrat with the sole purpose of skewing the statistics. Basically it was kind of a holdover from Limbaugh’s “Operation Chaos” suggestion from a few years back.
I can tell you that from what it looked like at the rally Trump has more than a fighting chance in this solidly blue city. The “Latinos for Trump” contingent at the rally was substantial and the only counterprotest I saw consisted of half a dozen sign holders on a street corner near the bus stop on the way out. There were no protesters that I saw on the way in and none that I saw inside the rally.
