Are Michigan Democrats in Trouble in Their Senate Race?
NYT ^ | Oct 19 2020 | Jeremy W. Peters and Kathleen Gray

Posted on 10/19/2020 7:55:22 AM PDT by where's_the_Outrage?

One candidate slapped on a helmet, a black leather jacket and rode his Harley Davidson across Michigan. His ads highlight his toughness on China and his support for banning Chinese travelers from entering the United States early in the coronavirus outbreak, a policy of President Trump’s.

The other candidate calls himself “nonpartisan.” He denounces the way politics have become “nastier and more divisive.” His wife recently appeared in a campaign ad to talk about their young son who has asthma as a way to demonstrate her husband’s commitment to protecting health insurance for people with pre-existing conditions....

According to recent polls, there are still large numbers of undecided voters and although they tend to lean Democratic, the pollster Richard Czuba says Mr. Peters hasn’t sealed the deal.

“One of the things we found, particularly with young Black voters under 40, there is still a sizable undecided chunk out there,” said Mr. Czuba, founder of the polling firm Glengariff Group, which in an early October poll found Mr. Peters with a five-point lead. “These are the people who Gary Peters needs to bring in and he hasn’t gotten there yet.”

What the NYT fails to report is that Michigan has a straight party ticket option in voting. So identifying as a rat or Republican is important. So if they vote for Trump they most likely will vote for James.

It also makes a difference when a state GOP picks a really, really good candidate (as opposed to the stiffs they so often serve-up to us).

I’m surprised these F-ing POS at the NYT’s are even running a story like this! They sound worried and are trying to mobilize their idiot squad!

If NYT sounding an alarm (ie, to warn Michigan Democrat voters), then you know that incumbent Sen. Peters (who is probably the most ‘unknown’ Senator in history) is in deep trouble.

Gary Peter’s fat beard is on heavy rotation.

Every time I see one of his ads, I can’t wait to vote for John.

Giving more money to JOHN JAMES for the last 2 weeks ... the more we give, the more Ronna and Mitch will release national RNC funds to his campaign at the end.

It sucks, but this is how they do it.

Also !!!! ... to all my fellow Michiganders ... tell everyone you know to vote for the Michigan Supreme Court:

I hate this ‘pre-existing conditions’ argument.

Do you get to insure your car AFTER you have a ‘pre-existing accident’?

Do you get to buy fire insurance on your house AFTER it burns down in a fire?

Insurance is not meant for those conditions. The only thing government should do is make sure they cannot throw you off AFTER you have paid your premiums.

That debate was settled by Trump. We no longer have insurance for health care we have health care financing. Trump helped kill insurance when he said everyone should have insurance even those with preexisting conditions. Remember when he said it would be beautiful and affordable and it would cover you even if you where sick? He pulled the rug out from the Senate Republicans as they were in the verge of a new health bill.

It’s just as well. Personal direct, pas you go for health care is the best option. Time to kill off health care insurance once and for all.

Health care prices will drop and the pace of innovation will accelerate.

It’s an argument that makes zero sense - but the Dems know it sounds good and it is difficult to explain how nonsensical it is without sounding heartless.

In Kentucky, the Dem candidate is running ads where she says she “will fight to protect coverage for pre-existing conditions like the coronavirus.” The coronavirus is obviously not a “pre-existing condition” - it is a contagious / infectious disease.

Actually, they removed the straight party option from the ballot starting this year.

Speaking of not getting it done, these two Partisan Media Shills from the NY Slimes haven't named the Republican candidate through the fourth paragraph at least.
