President Trump vowed to continue lowering taxes if he defeats Democratic challenger Joe Biden on Nov. 3, tweeting from the Walter Reed National Medical Center on Monday morning that his administration would pass a sequel to the 2017 tax overhaul.

"BIGGEST TAX CUT EVER, AND ANOTHER ONE COMING. VOTE!" Trump wrote in a series of tweets from Walter Reed, where he's been staying since Friday to undergo treatments for COVID-19.

"IF YOU WANT A MASSIVE TAX INCREASE, THE BIGGEST IN THE HISTORY OF OUR COUNTRY (AND ONE THAT WILL SHUT OUR ECONOMY AND JOBS DOWN), VOTE DEMOCRAT!!!" he wrote in another tweet.

This smacks of bribery of the voting public, which I view as unethical, but, on the other hand, Biden has promised the exact opposite, which act I don’t view as unethical, which sort of puts me in a quandary. (Not about the policies, about the announced plans prior to the election.)

“I could deal with taxes as they are for another 4 years if he would instead focus on cutting spending and reducing deficit. Drain the swamp and trim our bloated government.”

People have said that for 5 decades that I can remember. It never works. Congress controls spending and all congress critters hate deficits and have for 50 years, just ask them.

Starve the beast.

Damn, POTUS. You’re making it real difficult for Biden to hold his fragile coalition together. What about good sportsmanship, and being a good loser and all that? RINO’s insist that those are among the highest virtues.

Sorry, but if your knowledge of economics is that lacking I cannot possible educate you. You lack a basic education.

I’d like to see taxes at pre-WW1 levels.

On the subject of taxes...
Has anyone working received paychecks that had no federal taxes taken out since President Trump signed that EO?

Hint: It’s called Supply Side Economics. There’s a vast amount of literature on the subject.

I hope he can pull this off. The tax cuts need to be huge and wide so that the American public can see the cause and effect of it. Skimpy tax cuts don’t get noticed.

Code Toad is right. And it’s just common sense. New businesses and business expansions incur risk. You’re spending money with no guarantee that your risk will be rewarded. Lower taxes encourage business investment because the reduced tax burden they provide reduces the headwinds a business faces and change the risk/reward calculus. Just common sense.

I agree with most of that but the national DEBT, not the deficit, is the biggest problem. The deficit is certainly an issue, the debt is a bigger one

Deficit - spending more than you make. What politicians have done without a second thought since at least LBJ. And including republicans.

Debt - What you owe because of it. When your insane spending means you have to borrow money to keep the doors open, not a good thing. No nusiness could operate this way, you’d be out of business in 2 months. No politician manages his/her own finances that way, way do they run our country that way?

Spending and deficit are big issues, for sure. But that $21 trillion plus debt is going to kill us. Once it hits $22 trillion, I’ve seen it said we are finished. (or was it 24?) As it is, our great grandkids will still be paying just the interest...

Spending is insane. I’ve wanted to see Trump get in some huge spending cuts since day one, and it hasn’t happened, my one disappointment in his current administration. I can’t think of another negative. I think he has taken some small steps, but nothing major like I thought might happen. And spending is a huge issue. I hope to see better in his second term.

And that is why there must BE a second term...

So, we know right off you are not a business owner.

I am. Whenever we come into “new money”, i.e. a loan is paid off, we sign on a big new client, or get a tax break, etc., we get to decide what to do with it.

We have, in the past, given raises to key employees, purchased a new piece of production equipment, and spent it on advertising. These are business investments. They both help our company grow and they help inject new money into the economy - which enriches individuals - as opposed to paying taxes, which gives money to inefficient bureaucrats to spend as THEY see fit.

It all boils down to who do you think is wiser in their investments - individuals or the government. If you think the government is wiser, you do not belong on FreeRepublic.

“I accept your inability to prove your contention.”

Wrong. I proved you do not have a basic education in economics and cannot be reasoned with because of your ignorance. You inability to understand basic economics is your failure and not mine.

I didn’t make you an idiot, you did that.

Only if it is for small business. Large multi nationals just pocket the money and continue to replace American workers.

I’m right around 95K. But I read that if your bi-weekly paycheck’s gross number is under 4K, they’ll not take out those taxes on it.

You are a millennial, aren’t you? You know, the type of child who thinks everyone else must do something like spoon feed them information but you don’t have to lift a finger for yourself including educating yourself.

You have a responsibility to educate yourself. The Internet is information literally at your fingertips, yet, you stay ignorant and claim others must educate you.

Lazy and stupid is no way to make it in life.
