A surprising survey from the Manhattan Institute found that 44 percent of New Yorkers earning more than $100,000 have considered moving out of the city in the last 4 months. Sixty-nine percent of those considering a move cited the cost of living while another 47 percent said it was the high crime rate, which wasn't the case for over 20 years.
The pandemic has resulted in a change in work habits for the wealthy. Only 11 percent are working entirely outside the home while 53 percent are only working from their houses.
The Daily Caller reports that “Only 30% believed that the way they work would return to how it was before the coronavirus pandemic 65% said that they thought working from home would be the new normal. Worse, a vast majority — 80 percent — of wealthy New Yorkers don’t think the economy will recover in a year.
Quality of life is also an issue.
Only 38% of New Yorkers surveyed said that the quality of life now was excellent or good, a drop by half, from 79% before the pandemic. Most believe that the city has a long road to recovery: 69% say that it will take longer than a year for quality of life to return to normal.
Turning to challenges for New York City, 75% of respondents cited income taxes as a problem, while 72% pointed to traffic and 68% to the reliability of public transportation. The greatest concern of all was the likelihood of coronavirus spread, with 90% saying that it posed a problem for them.
Among respondents with children who attend public school in New York City, more than half (53%) said that they are very concerned about sending them back to school, including 76% of black respondents.

It’s always “have considered.”
As in...
96% of Hollywood celebrities have considered leaving the US.
75% of San Franciscans have considered leaving the city.
83% of Californians have considered leaving the state.
100% of Chers have considered leaving planet earth.
100% of Madonnas have offered blow jobs for voting for Hillary.
They never follow through with any of it.
$100,000 bucks in New York City would only support a lower middle class lifestyle. $100,000 in NYC does not support nearly as nice a lifestyle as $50,000 in Oklahoma City.
Keep on “considering” so your commie asses stay there. These people are a plague.
$100,00 is not wealthy.....
So true.
When Bill Clinton got in and raised income taxes my sister-in-law was making $118,000 plus bonuses and retirement contributions in NYC. Many people made the ave. income of $23,000. She actually complained “I’m really shocked and so are the people in my building (bank headquarters) that Clinton was supposed to help us little people and only tax the wealthy. Then he taxes me.” She still voted Dem and tried to convert me for being right wing. Still Dem, the idiot.
Ha, I left three years ago. Sold an apartment the size of a broom closet for $450K cash, and said goodbye to the noise and high prices .
You can save a lot of money if you have a cheap place to live.
One word for those considering it:
STAY!
This is, in large part, of your doing. You voted for Cuomo and deBlasio. You did so overwhelmingly.
It’s now time to embrace the suck that comes from your bad decisions.
People are leaving DC as well. Suburban real estate market is scorching hot.
RE: People are leaving DC as well. Suburban real estate market is scorching hot.
RE: “considering”
Last I looked, they’re not really leaving New York ( the state ), they’re moving to the suburbs — Westchester, Long Island, neighboring New Jersey and Connecticut. Heck The Hamptons suddenly had a SURGE in influx of rich people.
Wow almost half of wealthy New Yorkers. No wonder why I’m not thinking of leaving :-)
RE: Wow almost half of wealthy New Yorkers.
Has anybody ever been hired by a poor person?
Stay where the hell you are all at.
You voted for it, now live with it.
We don’t want you where we are at, ever.
Fortunately, theyre mostly moving to their second or third homes in the Hamptons or New Jersey.
New Yorkers, after destroying NYC and NY State, I tell you exactly where you can go........... you and your Lib agenda can go to Hell!
The other 56% got out while the getting was good.
Worse than that. Example: you have a Walmart 2. free parking at the Walmart.
That’s worth another $20k right there. In White Plains, NY (Westchester County) yoiu hve to pay a fee to park in a multi-story parking garage to go to Walmart (the only one around).
And that’s just Walmart!!
“mulling”
“considering”
“thinking about”
“may”
This is the new journalism that no longer actually reports news but POSSIBLE news.
Lemme know if they actually leave.
Maybe they should spend some time reconsidering how they have been voting.
Are you married? For most or our marriage I made in the 90-percentile income range. Now, closer to 95-percentile. My wife never stopped complaining about how little money we had. Considering I was one of seven kids in a lower 25-percentile family I never really sympathized.
They aren’t going anywhere and they’re going to keep electing the same trash that put NYC into the shithole status in which it now resides.
