In response to the tweet, I’d say, a healthy and flurishing community should have many guns because many places in the world still have people with evil intent or people who cannot maintain control of themselves either living in or visiting the community at times.
Police cannot be everywhere to help everyone all the time and even less so if they are defunded or thwarted by various people or means of doing their jobs to protect and help citizens.

As long as the criminals and gangs use them - people who shouldn't legally have them - then so should Law Enforcement and law abiding citizens to protect ourselves from them! Libs like to complain when SWAT teams sometimes use military grade weapons and gear, but in many cases the offenders are better equipped than they are which would give them an advantage. I still remember watching the aftermath of an armed bank robbery on TV years ago where the criminals wore body armor and used high capacity, high caliber automatic assault rifles and the police were overwhelmed and many were killed. That should not ever happen again.
