CHICAGO — Demonstrators are planning to shut down the Dan Ryan Expressway on Saturday to protest police brutality.
Organizers have been meeting with law enforcement for weeks to coordinate the march.
The demonstration will start at 12 p.m. Saturday at Robert Taylor Park, near 47th and Federal, before heading north on the Dan Ryan.
In an interview with WGN News on Wednesday, FOP President John Catanzara said he wants federal help to prosecute anyone who steps on the expressway.
State police say they will protect the rights of those seeking to peacefully protest while ensuring the safety of the public, and released the following statement:

It’s not a protest if you’re blocking traffic.

I consider this closer to a peaceful protest than most of the goings on in Chicago. Compare it to Portland where the thugs don’t even start marching until darkness falls.

By what right do they claim this action?
Time is money.
They are stealing it.
The point is the activity is pre-planned and done with the authorities’ permission, meaning the Ryan will be blocked for normal traffic and ordinary users won’t be there to be terrorized. If would be far worse if they just got on the road and blocked traffic, as they have in many cases.
If they want to do a single march that happens to obstruct some traffic for a limited period, that’s one thing. It’s when the purpose of such activities becomes intermittent obstruction over the long term that there is a problem.

Public highways are not theme parks for narcissistic malcontents. Look up the near-disaster with a gasoline tanker on I-35W in Minneapolis a while back. When are these putzes going to lay off the indulgence?

which is it? in one sentence they say they are helping to coordinate and in another they say we will help the feds stop them.
