My aunt has been “in trouble” according to the doctors for 10 years now because she is 100 pounds and like 5’ 5 or 6”
She’s 88.
If she lives another 10 years they will say she died at 98 from not weighing enough! :)
She is very healthy right now..
Take care of yourself with this virus. I DO take it very seriously when it comes to mom and aunts.
Plus good to see ya :)
How long is this nonsense going to continue? This overhyped virus is no more serious than the flu, where vaccines are also hit and miss.
The article said that influenza vaccines are "less effective" when given to the obese.
A coronavirus vaccine is likely to follow the same pattern.
The article then said that the same pattern should likely follow for coronavirus vaccines.
Will it still work in the obese? Our prediction is no.
It would follow then that the coronavirus vaccine would be "less effective" when given to the obese. But the doctor in the article makes the jump from "less effective", to "no" it won't "work".
Ignoring the negative hype in the article from the doctor, one can look at the following NIH study and see that for the obese, influenza vaccine antibodies drop off and become ineffective for about 30% of the non obese and about 50% of the obese after about one year.
So then obesity has some negative effect for some vaccinated influenza patients after one year, but it's not a big difference compared to the non obese.
And I certainly wouldn't describe it as a "no it won't work" for obese patients who would be vaccinated for coronavirus.
I was going full woke and say let me guess, blacks! I was wrong but this still may come up eventually
Like I said before, I already got tested (8/6), and it was negative, but the quick 15-minute test that was used isn’t entirely accurate for early onset of symptoms (I was fine on 8/4 when the PT receptionist took my temperature before my PT began). So they said quarantine and come back in 5 days if symptoms persist. So that’s what I’m doing.
I think you explained it why the doctor IMO inappropriately said, "no way".
As far as taking something, I’m resuming Zinc supplements, and I was already taking turmeric for exercise injuries (anti-inflammatory), so those will help. Also Tylenol if the fever persists.

Less effective equals not effective? I don’t buy it.
“...Im 52 and a fat ####...”

I am 68 and underweight (5’ 11” and 140 #s)
someone will have to hold me down and restrain me to give me a vaccine.
lets just redefine obese and then the problem is solved.
If you are obese, turn your life around and lose 20 or 40 pounds. It can be done if you will yourself to do this. It will help your sore knees, you will have more energy, your heart will last longer, you can buy new clothes and will look more attractive. I was fat and lost 40 pounds. I am glad I did this. I’m not done and am working on losing 20 more pounds of flab.
Looks like a Deep State doctor trying to talk down the vaccine in order to hurt Trump.
Didn't Fauci talk down the vaccine the other day too?
Perhaps it's their new tactic after trying to hurt Trump by stopping HCQ.
“Blacks,” came to my mind but I immediately threw out that idea. Racist from the get-go, I couldn’t continue the thought. The Obese? Are they a protected class?
We used to get these lifestyle reviews at work when they were told by consultants healthy people work better. I worked with this older engineer (think Walley in Dilbert) who was about age 70 at the time. The conclusion of his lifestyle habits said he should of died 15 years earlier.
Sorry, I was replying to Williams’ quote in post #31 and not your post #32.
I think he’s more like 4’10” and 270
He used to be in the 400# range
