Missouri governor says pardon likely if St. Louis homeowners charged

Missouri Gov. Mike Parson says he is prepared to exercise his pardon powers if prosecutors bring criminal charges in the case of a St. Louis couple who brandished firearms at a group of protesters outside their home.

Parson, a Republican, told a St. Louis radio station Friday that he thinks a pardon is “exactly what would happen” if Mark and Patricia McCloskey are hit with charges in the June 28 incident captured on video and seen by millions.

He later added that based on what he knows about the case, “I don't think they're going to spend any time in jail.”

Pardon me...Will the Gov need a rubber stamp if this couple ‘s rights are trampled again or other families protecting their lives and property? In my eyes and the eyes of the 2nd amendment should be the rule of law. A pardon for what?

If charges are brought against this couple, the remedy should be removal and charging of the DA and any who conspired with her to undermine the constitutional rights of Americans.

Excellent. Liberals would be deeply saddened.

Not good enough. These poor people should never have been dragged through this corrupt process to begin with. He should look into charging the DA in the case.

Good.

Too many good people have been jailed for defending themselves.

It needs to stop.

Agree. Presumably, they’ll go before a grand jury. Hopefully, they will be no-billed.

“...if prosecutors bring criminal charges in the case of a St. Louis couple who brandished firearms at a group of protesters...”
********************************************
We have here a bit of JOURNALISTIC MALFEASANCE going on. THERE WAS NO “BRANDISHING”. Brandishing is a legal term and it didn’t happen. What happened was an exercise of 2nd amendment rights and exercise of legal self-defense rights. Let’s not let them steal and pervert out language.

They wouldn't spend a day in jail even if charged and convicted. Illegal use of a firearm is a class E felony. With no criminal record then they would almost certainly get probabtion.

I hate to do this but the legal definition of brandishing implies that they were brandishing. See this:

If they are prosecuted, then exercising your rights has been criminalized and the left has reached its goal: taking guns from non-violent, honest citizens while leaving them in the hands of violent criminals.

You need to do more research, IMHO. In Missouri, self-defense is an exception to brandishing in their statutes.

No need for a pardon that I can see. The couple didn’t break any law that I know of in protecting their property & their lives. Those who went after them for this need to be removed.

If there is no law, then there is no law

There is no law protecting the life of the DA
